Are there any other American Doctor Who fans out there?
I rarely find other fans, yet it is such a good show!

I'm so excited for the mid season finale tomorrow! It was so hard to avoid all the spoilers since everyone else got to see it last week already.

I never know who I love more, Tennant or Smith. I think I love them both for different reasons. I however will never get tired of the epic speeches the 11th gives.

I think I like Matt Smith more than David Tennant, I think because he kind of acts and looks a little bit weird and alien.

Also, I'm not sure if it was shown on BBC America, but over Easter Matt Smith was in a TV drama based on the life of Christopher Isherwood.

Definitely worth a watch, if only for the gay sex scenes, of which there are many.

The current Doctor Who reboot rocks! All 3 Doctors have been great. Check out the spin off series Torchwood too, it features Capt Jack, the bi/so-gay alien agent. More grown up in it's style with (gulp) sexual references, so rare in sci fi!

Dr Who is wonderful, but I really love the spinoff called Torchwood with Captain Jack Harkness, the bi/gay officer

I was contemplating making a thread after the mid-season finale last week but... I didn't.

I just have to say IT WAS OFF THE HOOK NUTS!

And I'm sorta disappointed at it now but I can' understand it. It's definitely kinda cool though.

ha! Weird. As I was coming online just now, I was going to see how many Dr. Who threads already existed. Just started becoming a fan of it even though it the show is older than me and always have know of it....come on.....not many people who wouldn't recognize the opening theme. Anyway.....been utilizing my Netflix account and getting familar with the new and the original series.....LOVE it.

I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who all the way back to the classic series. I collect the DVD's and just need about 23 more until I'll start buying the last 6 seasons of the current run. I've seen the next episode already. It is fantastic. Shame it won't be on again until August.

I have loved it since I used to watch it on PBS and TVOntatio. I love the reboot, and I like all of the actors who have played the Doctor since the reboot for different reasons. Matt Smith makes me think of that cool, albeit sometimes arrogant, older brother who went to university, then travelled the world & has come back home to take you and show you all he has learned (sort of like an alien Auntie Mame) I'm actually impressed with myself that I figured out who River Song was before the episode revealing who she really was aired (a very clever twist indeed!)

Of course I was a fan of the Jon Pertwee era with Jo Grant & later Sarah-Jane Smith, but THE classic Doctor Who combo was Tom Baker as the Doctor with Liz Sladen as Sarah-Jane Smith. I was heartbroken when Liz Sladen died of cancer this past April. Having grown up with the character and enjoying her again in her resurgence since the season 2 episode "School Reunion", I felt as though a part of my childhood was stolen from me. Sounds silly to say about someone I never actually knew, but I guess that's a credit to her acting & her charisma.

I watched Peter Davidson, but Baker was too much of an act to follow, and I never warmed to Colin Baker or Sylvester McCoy.

I really wanted to like it. Heard a lot about it....but just never really had the desire to watch it in the few times I watch anything in a month.

I like the Tom Baker days, just didn't resonate with me.

Does it really matter which Dr? Should I just skip the rest of season 1 and go to season 2 since I may like it better?

Did you spot the Thunderbirds reference in the last episode?

Madame Vastra "That will be all Parker"
    Parker " Yuss ,m'lady".

Seems to have been missed by most people.
