Now, I'm hoping to find some GOOD Brazilian movies to watch, I was hoping RJ good give me some tips .. I already saw "City of God" and it was great... but it doesnt matter if its drama, action, comedy, whatever...as long as its a good movie, please give me some advice

For anyone else interested, I liked "Central Station" which had an oscar nomination, a golden globe nomination, and won an emmy for best foreign film... Really worth the watch

I was a Portuguese minor in college, and I took a course in Brazilian cinema. There are some really awesome films.

    Central Station is great.
    I own City of God.
Barren Lives from 1964 is good.
Tieta do Agreste with Sonia Braga

Years ago there has been a rebellion in a prison in Sao Paulo and the police invaded the place. Hours later people realized that the police was basically killing everyone who was inside and the whole story was just horrible.

It results we got a movie telling us the story, I think it's a great one.

Rodrigo Santoro is on it ( I mention him because I think he's famous in the USA as well ).

The movie is called Carandiru, which is the name of the prison...

PS... the movie is very graphic, but I guess the reality that day was too...icon_neutral.gif
