Not sure how you start your day or if you watch the TODAY show in the morning. I have for years, usually doing cardio in the morning. Thought
Katie Couric's departure from the program was pretty special and was certainly curious what they would do as Meredith Vieira departed on Wednesday.

I was certainly impressed with the segments. If you ever wonder why the TODAY show is the number one show in the morning... you get clued in with this. The effort, the comedy, love. I was just amazed... and Meredith was left in tears. Pretty awesome.

Thanks for posting .. was meaning to watch the video since I missed the show. I thought Meredith was a pretty instant fit for the Today show. A better fit than even Katie Couric in my opinion.

i havent been watching tv for months now so i am a bit shocked to hear that she is leaving. i liked meredith a lot. i would have the today show on the background as i get ready for work. i always found her to be down to earth and real. its awesome that she is putting family first. altho i am sure she has millions saved up by now and probably doesnt need to work anyways.

I rarely ever watch The Today Show but that video brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful send-off.

Well what's awesome is Ann Curry finally moves up to the anchor chair with Matt. If you haven't seen Ann Curry in action, you should. She is one of the very best on morning television.. professional, insightful, sensitive and very comfortable for guests. Definitely the right decision!

My partner is a great fan of Ann Curry, and watches the Today show most mornings, whereas I do not. I wish her well.

I first met Meredith Vieira at WCBS Channel 2 in New York in the late 1970s, the CBS network's O&O (owned & operated), back when they could only have 7 in the entire US, the rest of the TV stations being affiliates. I was taking a leave from the Army to pursue another degree, and doing an internship, mostly writing news scripts, and press releases.

She was so young, younger than me, but with the drive & ambition that told you she had a future. It wasn't until just a few years ago I met her again, when she was on The View on ABC, me & my BF in the VIP seating. We chatted a little, but I really don't think she remembered me, I had been just a flunky passing her in the hallway and saying hello.

But I still have a soft spot for Meredith. icon_biggrin.gif

Well clearly the execs have been making good decisions.. I still remember when I was in school... when the program floundered with Bryant Gumbel and Deborah Norville and the axing of Jane Pauley and the flap with Willard Scott. Good Morning America took over first. They got their act together when Katie came on board and it has been clear sailing since.
