I love nekkid flesh as much as everybody else on here does. But I need some serious, grown up photos for online dating shit. I'm using OK Cupid, though I'm open to other suggestions. But I don't know anything about the practical details/strategies of self portraiture. When I get this done, I promise I'll finally start filling in my profile on here.

I'm in my early 30s, athletic but slim, and intellectual. What outfits should I go for? What poses? Basically just post any thoughts. Thanks!

Get a glamour shot? Professional photos? It helps.

Or you can post a bunch of them and we can critique. I have warn you that it always leads to flame wars though.

Ewww I really can't think of a bigger turn-off than a guy who has a glamour shot / professional headshot in his profile...

accurately represent yourself and you'll save yourself alot of trouble. just hand your friends you phone over dinner and smile and let them take your photo. it's exactly what any date will see across the table as well, so it's a perfect ad. keep in mind, you may need to take 30 to get one that you like

I agree. I think a candid shot of a guy is really hot (like BambinoRex's main pic). Just look natural.

You guys are so earnest! Good advice, and of course I wouldn't mis-represent myself. But there really are some specific variables that don't just boil down to being honest, genuine, etc.

E.g., should I smile or be serious? I know what you're thinking: everybody wants somebody fun and laid back with a good sense of humor, etc.

But be honest with yourself. Isn't there a sense in which you might find a more serious picture more attractive at first glance?

Definitely smile in your primary pic. Definitely crop out anyone else. Definitely keep it to your face down to your upper chest.

For secondary pics, you can add non-smiling pics -- typically with you engaged in an interest of yours (sailing, football, playing a guitar, etc, etc).
