work is letting me stay in either of the 3 cities for nxt 1-3 months..

i'll be working from home, prefer proximity to hotties.. dont care so much about restaurant/bar/beach scene.. just # of hotties in proximity to my hotel lol....

i know charlotte is largest, but do the other 2 cities have more colleges which more than make up?

don't know anything about Charlotte, but Raleigh is not it. from someone that went to NCSU, they're mostly rednecks. if you're in the mood for chocolate pudding (black guys) then you'll like Greensboro. in my opinion, Duke's got the hottest guy population, so go to Durham.

thank you yes I hear Duke (especially Fuqua MBA) is all hot gay Jersey boys..

wonder how true that is as I love hot Jersey boys lol...

also you speak of Durham separately from Raleigh..aren't they only about 15 mins apart so though technically they may be seperate, culturally/socially are they one and the same??

also which town has the largest college population? thanks

I've lived in Charlotte for 15+ years. I have a very bad taste about the city itself as well as the gay community here. And yea, I was once part of the gay community pride and community leadership, which is where I got the bad taste from. From my perspective, Raliegh is probably your best bet as we have more colleges than Greensboro, although less that the Raliegh area and you would be in great proximity to Durham if college aged 'hotties' is your main concern.

Personally speaking, my goal is to get of not just Charlotte, but the south period. While my plans to move in July have fallen further than where we think hell is, I am still looking to leave within a year now instead of next month.

To the poster from San Diego: I concur. I should never have come back from San Diego. One of the BIG mistakes of my adult life.

Back on topic: So based on your criteria, I vote for Raleigh.

I have been told that North Carolina as a whole is loaded with hot, hunky men. So take a chance, be a clown and arbitrarily pick a city or county anywhere in North Carolina.

No real discussion necessary, Charlotte is definitely the victor amongst the three options.

Raleigh has some attractive men, but a vast majority of the men have social skills make Helen Keller seem verbose and witty. I've never had a difficult time holding a conversation with fellow Midwesterners, but with a fair majority of the men in the area, trying to engage with them is akin to pulling teeth.

In all honesty, every city has its respective charm. However, I prefer Charlotte because it's a larger city, the downtown is BY FAR the best of the three.

    Good luck with your visit!

    Damn straight!

(hmm maybe that's not an appropriate expression in this case)

I've lived in both CLT and the Triangle . The triangle (Raleigh-Durham-CH) probably has a larger population than clt and lots of universities... If you're interested in smart guys, the Triangle also has the highest concentration of PHd's in the US. Also, the best barbeque in the country is in eastern NC, so there's that.

If you're interested in NASCAR, closeted red necks, etc. go to charlotte.

I live in Charlotte, and was born and raised here. While at times i get mad about the community here, a lot of it is because of drama that goes back a ways. I love my city though and we charlotte gays are pretty smoking. I would be considered an average apperanced gay here, if that helps...Charlotte has a great gay night life especially on the weekends. There's tons to do in Charlotte even if it's not a gay thing. I love my city!!

I checked out some of your cities in North Carolina and along with Charlotte, Raleigh, and Durham, four other wonderful cities that stand out are Asheville, Winston-Salem, Fayetteville, and Wilmington. Probably this should be the battle of the seven cities in North Carolina. However, I think that the entire state is crawling with hot, hunky men. Like I said earlier, take a chance be a clown and arbitrarily pick a city or county. You will not be disappointed with your search results in the tar heel state.

Having lived in NC for close to 16 years, I would say go anywhere but the Fayetteville area except to visit. While things are much cheaper here, I wold not suggest settling down there. IT is dubbed Fayettenam! lol Your best bet is the Raleigh-Durham area, or maybe Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill is gorgeous and has probably one of the most popular collages in NC, UNC-Chapel Hill. I don't know much about Greensboro or Charlotte though.

chemguy79, you are one hot guy that put Chapel Hill on the map and another compelling reason why to check out the entire State of North Carolina, not just Charlotte and Raleigh.

In Charlotte we have a lot of colleges in the city limits. The biggest is UNCC where I go. Its crawling with hot guys. Then there are several community colleges in the area.

Heh ... Your compliment is definitely appreciated. Alas, I'm not a native North Carolinian, I'm a Michigander (born and bred) who is looking to leave the state sooner rather than later.

Ehh, each city has attractive men, and the grass is always going to be greener on the other side. I've been in Raleigh for 10 years, and the fact is, I think more hot guys come to the Triangle because of job opportunities (not saying they talk to me, exactly, but that's neither here nor there!) Greensboro has some great looking guys, and Charlotte does as well. Any way you look at it, you're going to be fresh meat, so as soon as you get a face pic, the guys will probably be all over you! hehe Good luck with the choices.

I love Charlotte. I love the feel of the city. And the gay population is generally friendly, relatively accepting and pretty active.
