The trove of more than 13,000 emails detailing almost every aspect of Sarah Palin’s governorship of Alaska, released late on Friday, paints a picture of her as an idealistic, conscientious, humorous and humane woman slightly bemused by the world of politics.

One can only assume that the Left-leaning editors who dispatched teams of reporters to remote Juneau, the Alaskan capital, to pore over the emails in the hope of digging up a scandal are now viewing the result as a rather poor return on their considerable investment.

If anything, Mrs Palin seems likely to emerge from the scrutiny of the 24,000 pages, contained in six boxes and weighing 275 pounds, with her reputation considerably enhanced. As a blogger at Powerline noted, the whole saga might come to be viewed as “an embarrassment for legacy media”.

I think any time spent by the news media on Palin's emails could probably have been better spent holding people who are currently in government accountable. Or covering higher impact stories.

Or, in fact, on just about anything. Woman is a waste of space.

Ms Palin and her family have done well after the tornado of the media terrorists, aiming to hurt and harm, with full intent to do as much damage as possible to Ms Palin; even her family was not safe. They may well leave head hung of disappointment.

Um... does the name "Biden" mean anything to you? I don't think the woman should be President but the level of visceral hate and hostility both within the media and amongst some on the left that she generates is highly disproportionate to anything she has done or said - especially compared to those like Joe Biden who she should have been compared with. Nevertheless, ironically this may ultimately end up playing right into the hands of Republicans.

Given that the media and pundits pit her so forcefully against Obama as an extremist moron, when the Republicans choose someone else - which they will given that she is not even likely to run, that will make their job that much easier to rise above with the bar set artificially low.

I know that many here think I am some kind of Sarah Palin crusader, but it's not so much that I think she is Presidential (I don't, but remain open minded) but it's mostly that I love an underdog, and seeing how the media and left have chastised her and treated, not only her, but her entire family, is truly horrendous. I don't recall such vile treatment of any politician in my lifetime. Absolutely nothing this woman has done warrants the vitriol she has been subjected to. To see her not back down, but rather forging ahead makes me, and millions of others, root for her even more. Not root for her to be President, just root for her to hang in there and fight the fight against those who will say anything/do anything to bring her down. The 24,000 emails is yet another classic example of the blatant attempt to hurt Sarah that in the end only makes HER look better and stronger. If Sarah is so incompetent, why don't they just leave her alone and let her self destruct on her own? I'll tell you why, it's because they know that Sarah Palin, regardless of what others say, is a force to be reckoned with --- and it scares them to death.

It's really odd the double standards they've used. The real losers in all of this continues to be the credibility of traditional journalists who are increasingly losing relevance.

I haven’t seen anyone since maybe Dan Quayle treated with such disrespect. And where are the feminists? I guess it’s ok if it’s a republican woman. I‘m really surprised however, that in 24,000 emails that she hadn’t really hauled off a time or two. I bet I have in 20,000 + emails. icon_wink.gif I have new found respect for her.

I am no fan of Sarah Palin but all this controversy over all her previous e-mails just goes over the line. I guess since she is a republican, it is perfectly ok to scrutinize every single e-mail she sent over the years. If it were a democrat being scrutinized like this, I could just hear all the extremist liberal hens on here howling in protest like a bunch of little children.

You're hilarious. Biden is an intelligent, learned person who occasionally puts his foot in it, which is not that unusual. I was surprised to read the Atlantic article about Palin that does, in fact, suggest that she was a much better mayor and governor than her presence on the national stage would suggest. I think it's kind of odd that she has chosen to dumb herself down and create a sort of caricature of herself as her primary presentation.

That said, she is also far from the sharpest knife in the draw and the media attention she actively seeks out constantly demonstrates how incapable she is of being president.

+1, completely agree. She needs some national experience such as a senate term or two and then I'll consider her. She is still young and has plenty of time.

Same happened to Dan Quayle about 23 years ago in the 88 general - thanks to a media pile on. True, we didn't have much in the way of email back then. I worked on his senate compaign in 1980. I knew the man. He was a good man. He was horribly treated.

Yeah, Christian, that is soooooo unusual and rare for a politician to "actively seek out media attention". icon_rolleyes.gif What'ya bet that most politicians would actually pay money $$$ for the media attention that Sarah Palin gets for free.

This snowbilly is nothing but a media whore. She craves attention- negative or positive. That's how she makes $$. She's the Paris Hilton of the political world- a dumbass republican bimbo in a tight skirt. Enough said.

    "with her reputation enhanced ?"

Well, it couldn't get much worse, but she's working on it.
