    Hard to know if you are really overweight. I don't see any weight listed.
    Review your exercise and how much you are eating. Get input from a doctor and set out to change it... that is, if you really have weight issues.

    Sometimes we don't know why we get fat. Personally, for me it was depression. Many things can cause one to gain weight.
    May I ask how much overweight you are? Do you have any medical reasons to retain weight? Are you diabetic?
    November 2009 I was diagnosed with type II Diabetes. I had the numbness and tingling of neuropathy in my feet and legs. The low carb diabetic diet that was specified that I be on for the rest of my life, along with exercise, has probably saved my life. I started at 215 and just weighed in this morning at 167. That is 2 pounds from my high school weight. The funny thing is, I was fat then. Now I'm muscular and trim. I'm 66 years old. As a result of diet and taking care of myself, I feel the happiest and healthiest that I have been in my whole life.
    The diet is amazingly easy. But it takes watching what you buy and cooking or preparing the food yourself. Don't worry, a non-diabetic can use the diet.
    Much success and I wish you well! Below is the entire diet.

    45-60 grams of Carbs at each of 3 main meals each day.
    15-30 grams of Carbs at each of 2 breaks per day.
    Daily total carbs: 180-240 grams per day

    YOU DO NOT COUNT CALORIES!!! ONLY COUNT CARBS!

    If you stay at the low end of the scale...45 Carbs for meals, 15 Carbs for breaks, 180 grams of carb per day, you will loose weight. If you go to higher end of the scale, 240 grams of carbs, you will maintain weight.
    You can start to learn what carbs are in foods by checking the Food Nutrition List on the back of any food. While you are looking at the Carb content, look to see if there is any fiber contained in the food. You can subtract the fiber from the Carbs.
    Example: bread 24 grams of Carbs also contains 4 grams of fiber.
    24 carbs minus 4 grams of fiber equals 20 carbs.

    Food, in this case, is divided into 3 groups:
    Protein: is usually 0 grams of carbs
    Vegetables: are usually 0 grams of carbs
    Fruits & Sugars: can be too many carbs

    Protein examples are: meats, fish, cheeses, peanut butter, unsalted nuts
    Vegetables: green vegetables
    Sugars: just about any food that is white, potatoes, white bread, beans, banana, cakes, pies. But find out the carbs of these foods, and if you can stay within your daily carb count you can eat some of these sugars. Avoid fruit juices...too much sugars.

    Update:
    I recently learned that you can also subtract Sugar Alcohol from the carb count. Not Sugar, Sugar Alcohol.
    An example is An Atkins Advantage Protein Bar. This example is a Caramel Fudge Brownie Bar. And it is delicious! An awesome treat when you crave something sweet. Yes, you can have chocolate, as long as it is within your carb count for the day.

    Carbs = 19 grams
    Dietary Fiber = 10 grams
    Sugar Alcohol = 7 grams
    19 grams minus 10 grams = 9 grams minus 7 grams = 2 grams of carbs!!!!!!!!!!

    Enjoy your Atkins Bar at 2 grams of fiber and you still have 13 grams left for your snack. Add half an apple and you have 15 grams of carbs for your break.
