I have been asked by a few people to do a post on the Sabbath of God. This is indeed is a wonderful truth the Bible reveals to us. Now before I do. To those of you that did ask me about this privately before I post the facts from the Scriptures the Holy Word of God i would like to ask you a question.

What is the Sabbath day to you? Do you keep it

Sunday is the Sabbath for most Christians (maybe excluding 7th Day Adventists) and it is my favorite day of the week. It is a mellow, relaxing day for me. I attend church services in the morning. Sometimes I will do something social with family members who live nearby. Sundays are just different to me and I can feel a certain holiness about them.

the sabbath to me is from sun down friday night to sun down saturday night. which the bible tells that this is the true sabbath. i keep the sabbath as best as a sinful human can.

The way i do it is no tv, no buying or selling, no porn, no working like a job or anything where i am sweating and so on.

A lot of people would say that keeping the sabbath was a old testament commandment but the commandments are still in affect today. Chirst did not do away with these laws he did away with the law of Moses. which that mostly has to do with the sacrificial system. The truth about the commandments are all over the place in the new testament you just have to look. this is what i found looking what how the sabbath was changed. The bible though still says that Saturday the 7th day of the week is the sabbath and sunday is the first day. http://www.sabbathtruth.com/sabbath-history/how-the-sabbath-was-changed.aspx

lol, the reality is that to keep the sabbath as rod is describing it would mean all businesses and services would be closed, everything from 911 operators to pharmacies to hospitals and the list is incredibly long.

    Deuteronomy:

12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do"

Then it goes on to explain WHO should keep the Sabbath. "15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day. "

While keeping a day aside for spiritual reflection is wonderful, which you can do while working; or after work, or while you do your laundry or make meals, your thoughts are yours, the instruction was levelled at those brought out of Egypt. Taken literally, I wonder how those people got through the day with no one making food, or giving another who couldn't a bath etc.

Literalist bible thinking is such a crooked path, I think.

the bible does say that if you are caring for someone then your not breaking the commandment. Meaning if your a cop or a nurse or those profession then its ok to work but if its where your sweating or making money for your own pocket then we shouldnt do it.

For example working at a factory on the weekend for me i use to do it in till i found out about the truth and i will no longer work friday sun down to saturday sun down. If we keep God's laws which i know is hard to do, but if we keep them we are bettering our self's and showing God that we love him back.

Many people don't have luxury you do in being able to run your life by your religious beliefs. Their employers call the shots and they have babies to feed.

I wouldnt mind a sabbath in itself... a day when everyobody just rests... to give us a break from the normal workign days..

Funny enough, in the Hindu calendar, its also saturday the day of rest... And in Nepal, Sunday is still the first working day (they never followed the Christian habit introduced worldwide lol)

Sabbath was typically on Saturday, and meddling by the Roman Catholic Church in the 6th or 7th century CE saw it moved to Sunday for a variety of reasons.

Spanish picks up on this a bit better than English, curiously.

Saturday (EN) = Sabado (ES) = Samstag (DE) corrupted from the Old High German "Sambaztag", itself a corruption of Ecclesiastic Latin, "Sabbatum" = Sávato (GR) ... among others.

In other languages, it carries forth from the "Day of Saturn", itself an esteemed day in Roman culture.

The effect of moving the Christian observance of a holy day from (the Roman) Saturday to Sunday may have been driven by a desire to separate it from the pagan worship of Saturn as well as an increasing distance from, and/or ignorance of, the older Jewish observance of shabbos.

Curiously, there is a passage (I'll have to search it out at some point) in the New Testament regarding how it is equally lawful for someone to keep the Sabbath as a holy day, whereas others may regard all days as holy, i.e. to walk in a manner so as to "be holy, as God is holy", in abstaining from evil, and fleeing youthful lusts.

    A tall order indeed.

    Amen to that Rodimus1981

The Sabbath was instituted long before the Jews. God gave the Sabbath as the 7 days memory of creation.

When heaven opens we see the ark of the covenant. Inside the ark is the law of God which God wrote with His own finger on STONE which means it is for ever.

Also the only commandment that tells us to REMEMBER in case we forget GOD put the remember in front of it. Sadly most of mankind has forgotten it.

If you accept the Sabbath of God you declare that
    1) God is the creator
    2) the earth was made in 6 days
    3) That you keep Gods commandments

The three angels of Revelation 14 are shouting out to the world. Either accept God (Sabbath ) or accept mans made sabbath Sunday (mans)

And you know what mans Sabbath is sunday, the MARK of the BEAST

Jesus Christ kept the 7 days Sabbath
    Jesus disciples kept the sabbath

    Genesis 2:2-3
    King James Version (KJV)

2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

You know the mark of the beast number 666

In the above scripture God repeats the number 7 yes seven times can you see it.

    777 = Gods number
    666= satans

By accepting the Sabbath of God you accept the ONE TRUE GOD

An esteemed day everywhere... because Saturn, being the moving star which takes the longest to circle the earth (15 years) was in most cultures deemed to be the highest of the gods (moving stars were equated to gods) and so that day became the day of the highest god and the day of rest for everyone.... in the Old World, from the pagans, to the jews to the hindus...

for some reason later on, the most powerful God became Zeus/Jupiter (whose day is Thursday), who is essentially, the god of thunder ("Thur"-sday) and storms, whom gave humans knowledge of fire, for humans learned first to harness fire from when lightning crashed on the ground .. also, on this day many Hindus fast because in their religion it is the day for the god of wealth I believe

the Christians pretty much took Sunday as their holy day... taking along with it much pagan "sun-symbolism"... Christmas was the pagan festival of light... and the light festival it is still celebrated as such among the Hindu's at around the same time of the year... it is meant mostly as a celebration of the end of the solar cycle, the sun travelling to its lowest point on the horizon around the time of these "light" celebrations, and as a "prayer" to ask the sun to begin climbing back into the sky in order for the time of summer and long nights to return and darkness to fade.. much of which is compatible with Christian ideas of god being the light in the world, coming down to bring light in the time of darkness

The muslims later on took Friday as holy day, which is the day of Venus/Freya, which is the goddess of procreation (love and fertility) in many cultures, prolly due to her cycle around the sun being close in length to a human pregnancy... and prolly related to the pre-muslim Arabs worshipping the highest gods mostly as female or mother goddesses...

By accepting the Sabbath of God you accept the ONE TRUE GOD[/quote]

I like to play Devils Advocate when it comes to religious belief systems, (namely Christianity) Because so many use this religion or religion in general to dictate and control others actions primarily through a fear tactic.
Allow me to state, however, I DO BELIEVE IN A GOD, I just don't believe mankind’s views, or regulations (Commandments in other words). They are man made in my view and not of God. To believe in the Holy books within this world would contradict my understanding of what 'God' is, which human words cannot express.

    I just have some questions....

    1. When you actually consider the sheer magnitude of the Universe and how infinitesimally small we are in comparison, why does man have this unbelievable sense that we are the most important "chosen creatures of God" especially taking the countless unknown creatures and life forms across the universe??

    2. Why when people read the Bible does all logic and rationality seem to escape them immediately?
Take Noah's arch: Yes, it has been proven a great flood took place on earth, but ... there are @ 94% less species on the planet since the dawn of man, so to create a "boat" that not only would be large enough to house said species of animals (and still float), have food to feed them for however long they were on the boat, and then have no proof that such a massive structure even existed... Why doesn't this seem odd to people???

Also even if the arch existed, even if every animal could fit into (does that include insects by the way??) there is another aspect of the story that doesn't make sense. If God created the flood to wipe out humanity save for Noah and his family, then that would mean that his family was responsible for the creation of the rest of the human race, which is not only scientifically impossible (it takes at least several thousand of any species to successfully survive and not die out.) But it also means that every human being since, was a result of inbreeding of sorts; which is apparently what would bring the Antichrist and the end of time.
Think of a dog breeder, eventually if they keep inbreeding their animals then over time the genes would deteriorate an prompt defects, deformities and eventually the animals would just start to die out.

These are just a few questions that I ask when it comes to how "accurate" the stories in the bible are. A book told by word of mouth years before it was written, translated 7 times from languages we do not speak and that the English language doesn't even have words for in some cases involving the text itself. No that book was never influenced or changed by man. (That's just being naive) The simple defense that God would not let his word be "tainted" by man completely negates the rule that God cannot affect and/or dictate free will.
I have more questions for playful friendly debating if you would like.

The Bible must be read with wisdom and thoughtfulness and I do not accept everything in the Good Book strictly because of its literal value. There are many good words of wisdom and beautiful lessons that can be gleaned from the Scriptures. The one problem that I have with the literalists, is that man is creating God in man's image rather than the reverse. Comprehending God completely, in my opinion is impossible, but we can get glimpses of God's majesty through his/her? works. We are all born with a conscience and we innately know what is right and wrong. Choosing right or wrong, or good and evil, is another question.

I agree with you on many points.

Have you seen the movie "The Priviledged Planet?" It's a documentary and Netflix has it. You might find it interesting from a scientific point of view.

    Peace....

I once wrote in a story that god made us in god's image but not one that can be seen with the naked eye. It requires other eyes.

" They were, after all, the Maker’s Own, made in the Maker’s Image, but not an image to be seen nakedly by human eyes. They carried the Maker’s greatest gift, the Maker’s Imagination, an enormous powerful ability..... "

Praise God for showing you the way donovan1979. i think a lot of people me include at one point use to take the bible in piece i would like something and hate other but now i try my best to take all of it.

The reason i do this is because the bible is like a guide book for us to fallow. It shows us how to live like Christ. The 10 commandments was made before we fell in the garden and they are still in place today and those show us the sins in our lives. A lot of my friends from work was saying that the sabbath anit on Saturday but it is and here is my proof:

    1) If you look at the calender the first day on there is Sunday and the 7th day is Saturday and the weekly cycle on the calender has not been change at all there was a change to a day but that did not affect the weekly cycle.

2)Christ died on good Friday, which Friday for them was sun down Thursday to sun down Friday. He was buried before sun down Friday because sun down Friday starts the sabbath. Then he was resurrected on the morning or what we call Sunday. I know for a fact that God would not raise himself on the sabbath.

3)The Jews still worship the sabbath on sun down Friday to sun down Saturday.

4)if you look up Saturday and it definition or wiki it it says that Saturday is defined as the last day of the week. Now it will say its the Jewish sabbath but God had said in many passages that its is for everyone not just the Jews.

"The 10 commandments was made before we fell in the garden..."

    Erm, I don't think so.

I think you're confusing the covenant with the ten commandments. Even the covenant wasn't made til after the fall.
Now how about all those people, like pilots and chamber maids, that have to work on the Sabbath. Should they avoid work and get fired?

the laws have been around since God made man. If they wasnt then how did adam and eve fall? they had to break the law some how. If you break even just one commandment you break them all. there no for example: well i am keeping the sabbath but i took this cd player, so i ok i keeping the other ones.

If you believe in God and you want to keep the sabbath and your company wont let you then keep the sabbath even if you get fired because your showing God that you are putting him first and that you love him and your doing what he would want. If you do he would bless you with a better Job where you can keep the sabbath and maybe make more money. He has plans for us all and if we do are half and show him that we are will to change for him and try and spread the truth then he will bless us.

God apparently told Adam not to eat the apples, and then Adam relayed this to Eve, who disobeyed and took a bite, then offered some to Adam, who took a bite as well. This is long before any ten commandments.

As for going ahead and getting fired, you give terrible advice. Many people are supporting others with their wages.

Such trivia can't matter to a god who knows all and sees all and knows the future and its outcome. A god that knows just how much you do now, and will in the future, understand and so love god. Look deeper.

I understand that people support there families and stuff but if that company does not want to work with the person keeping the sabbath then the sabbath comes first. Their families will understand if they are of the same religion.
the reason i said the sabbath comes first is because it teaches us how to keep the laws better and we can understand God and what he wants for us and it shows us how to be more like Christ.

I have know of some people who have went against this world and satan by keeping the sabbath and they got fired and maybe a week or so later they got better paying jobs because they keep their faith in God and never gave up. People have got to understand this world is in God control. He knows whats happening and everything and we have to go though things to strengthen us for the times ahead, but satan does put his hand into this world by influencing people to do bad, not care about other people, not give a crap about what religion they are and making them work anyways.

For the person who ask how do i know there was a adam and eve because the bible was written by men who had the holy spirit telling them what to write. There was laws set in the garden of Eden even though they are not said in the bible.

Let us look at it like this

Without a doubt the Sabbath commandment was instituted during the Seventh day how do we know this.

God worked 6 days and then on the Seventh God rested. On this Day God did 3 things

    1) God Blessed the Seventh day
    2) God sanctified it
    3) God rested

Now why did God rest? Well it is not because He was tired. The Hebrew word for rest is Nuwach. It is used in many scriptures. Lets take a look and then you can see what this rest that God did really means.

We need to look at the Hebrew words for rest

    1) SHABATH: This is a verb and it means to cease, to stop something. stop sinning

.2) NUWACH: This is a verb that focuses on RESTING; resting from labor, resting from sorrow, not expending any energy,

    3) SHAQAT: This verb also refers to RESTING, but the focus is on an atmosphere of calm, peace and tranquility

    4) CHADAL: This verb is somewhat similar in meaning to “shabath” in that it refers to stopping doing something; but the focus of this word is specifically to stop causing trouble, stop breaking God’s laws, leave off doing what is wrong,

these are the Four Hebrew words used in the Bible for rest.

Now we need to see which ones are used for Gods rest. So lets start in exodus.

    Exodus 20:11
    King James Version (KJV)

11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested {NUWACH} the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

    Esther 9:17-18
    King James Version (KJV)

17On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested {NUWACH}they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
18But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested {NUWACH}, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

    Proverbs 29:17
    King James Version (KJV)

17Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest {NUWACH} yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul
    Zephaniah 3:17
    King James Version (KJV)

17The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest {NUWACH}in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

As we see in Exodus God rested. What does this mean? Well we have looked at other scriptures that show clearly the usuage of NUWACH so when God rested he WAS GLAD FEASTING LOVE AND JOY. God was pleased with His creation.

So the Hebrew word Nuwach is associated with love, joy, feasting singing gladness. No God was not tired He was glad, full of joy.

The Hebrew word used in Genesis 2 for rest is SHABATH which means to stop. God ceased in creating more He was finnished creating. So He stopped.

    Genesis 2:2-3
    King James Version (KJV)

2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

This is the very reason the same writer Moses who wrote Exodus and Genesis uses 2 different Hebrew words for rest. The first is to show God stopped His creation and the second was to show God was glad, full of Joy.

Orthodox Jews do not fast on the Sabbath? Why because it is a time of feasting and joy and gladness, fasting is associated with times of mourning and sackloth and ashes.

So there is the part explained what God resting means. Now let us look at when the law came into effect.

On the Seventh Day God istituted the Sabbath Blessed it, sanctified it and rested upon it. The Sabbath was given LONG BEFORE THE JEWS it was intituted on 7th day of creation week.

God worked 6 days and rested on the seventh. Right now at a later stage we get the Law written on stone with Gods finger, written on stone means it cannot be changed. Have you heard the saying I can change that it is not written on stone. God wrote it with His finger on stone. The Ten Commandments are indeed the Eternal Law cannot be changed.

The Bible does not tell us that God gave the ten commandments to Adam and Eve. But this does not mean He did not. How so?

Firstly without a law their can be no transgression of sin. Like this can you get a fine on the highway if there is no speed limit. no of course not. Now how did Adam and Eve break Gods Law.

God told them NOT to eat or touch the tree of knowledge in the garden. They did not obey God. What does this mean? They disobeyed and trangressed Gods commands. So God did give a law and they broke it.

Jesus Christ said if you love me you will keep my Commandments.

So Adam and Eve before Jesus Christ was born in the flesh broke the law of God.

Adam and Eve two children Cain and Abel knew the law of God. Cain killed Abel and Abels blood cried out to God{life is in the blood} Cain new he broke Gods law when he killed Abel.

11And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

Cain killed his brother. He knew he had sinned. God hands down punnishment to Cain. Cain says its more than he can bear.

Does God hand down punnishment to transgressors without first laying down the law. Does the speeding limit on the road get implemented after the speeding fine is given. No. God loves his children and He did indeed tell them what His Law is.

So why did God not give the Law in stone to Adam and Eve? Adam and Eve were created to be perfect, satan himself tempted Eve and both Adam and Eve ate the fruit. They disobeyed God. Did God tell them before hand not to eat the fruit? Yes. God first gives the law then punnishes for transgression of His law.

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments and His commandments are not grievous” (I John 5:3).
