It seems to me as though he is singing falsetto, but with greater range and volume than I thought was possible for falsetto. Most impressive!

I'd like to know the context in which the video of him singing shirtless was originally shown...

Why do you think it's a nightmare for some people?

http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/925824 The first two posted replies should prove of particular interest!

As to why he's dreamy, he's the complete package - an upstanding human being!

I was just referencing a broader sentiment, i.e. "For some guys, a masculine looking man who opens his mouth and sounds like a woman is a turn-off." Even if it's just singing! I'm just sorry that he seems to sing better with his shirt on.

LOVE the way looks. His speaking is great too. But that singing voice? Sorry....sounds absolutely ridiculous! Huge opera fan here too.
But come on.....a physique and face like that, singing falsetto? Quite silly. Actually any man singing falsetto is odd to me. HUGE turn off.
But to each his own. icon_wink.gif

He is NOT singing in falseto. Counter Tenor work is completely different and very difficult to do. His cover and control are great.

Falsetto is what some Pop singers use and it has worked for some. Most noteably the BeeGee's. It has very little "tone" and usually has a very "nasal" quality.

Counter Tenor is a classical style, originally called Castratti, because they would castrate young boys to keep their voices from changing. The main difference being the vocalist has much more controll over volume, vocal flexibilty and tone quality.

Seeing his singing, off the opera stage, may be hard to appreciate.

But in a performance, the counter tenor is powerful. You'll hear this delicate and graceful sound ...backed up by raw POWER.

My favorite example is the opera 'Rodelinda' by Handel. Two counter tenors sing together at one point.

I stand corrected as far as using the wrong term. However, it is STILL ODD AND RIDICULOUS for any man, especially this man whom is physically superior to most in physique/body, to sing this way.
