Can you confuse the two? Can lust become love?

Lust could be defined as sexually motivated admiration whereas love might be seen as an emotional attraction that has the hope for mutual / continuing companionship. I don't think you can confuse the two but lust can give the illusion that love is what will eventuate (if it's something like 'lust at first sight') and being in love certainly will have moments of lust.

Yes, men confuse the two all the time.

Men, in general, tend to lust for a year and a half, then the feeling turns into love.

Lust is saying you'd marry a somebody like Kellan Lutz in a heartbeat simply because he's attractive.

Love is marrying somebody after you've TRULY gotten to know them and still feel the same way.

    Totally agreed!
I can't say that lust has no place in the relationship; but for me, that place is no greater than 2 or 3% of the overall picture (the rest of the time, I'm attempting to dive into the others Soul). For myself, I'll start w/ the Love and make it the prerequisite for any further involvement. It requires, however, that one put one's heart out there in a completely vulnerable condition; men, generally, find this too uncomfortable to abide, hence the famous female accusation "he won't commit" and songs like "love sucks." It is important, however, to get-in-the-game; rather than, warm-the-bench.

I've never fallen out of Love w/ anyone!

Agape vs. eros. Pretty simple ;)

People frequently confuse eros for agape. People don't normally confuse agape for eros.

Lust is an impulse. Your reactions depend on the strength of the stimulus.
Love is an investment. It takes effort and work.

Basically, one way to look at the difference between love and lust is this: When you lust after someone and you hook up with him, the minute you're finished - you'd like to leave, or have him leave, and get on with your day - or night. Conversely when you love someone, and you've just finished making love with him, you want him to stay. With someone you love, you want to spend more time with him, talk with him, snuggle, and then spend the rest of your day - or night - with him.

I know this is an oversimplification, but I think you get the idea.

Lust exists. Love doesn't. That's the difference.

Oh, Trollileo, you're too young to be so jaded! icon_lol.gif

For me, lust is the purely sexualized feeling you have for someone. It's when you want someone sexually, and you don't even care about who or what the person is. The person could be the worst jerk in the world, but you don't care because he/she is hot, and that's all that matters.

Love, on the other hand, is the emotional connection that you have for someone. It's not only the desire you have for the person, but it's the need to be with that person all of the time. Having sex with this person is only secondary, sharing you heart and soul is paramount. You hurt when the other person hurts, you cry when the other person cries, and you feel bliss whenever the other person is happy.

Love is self-sacrifice - Lust is greed.

You gotta get outta that dorm room.

    Love is eternal and Universal.

Lust is a long weekend in Vegas, tops.

I'm actually quoting a friend of mine from high school and I really liked her take on the subject.

I've only loved one thing in my life and it's my dog. For some reason, truly caring about other people has been very difficult for me lately.

It's not a dorm. It's the most bumpin' quasi-frathouse in town.

I was talking about the mental dorm room.
