So I was browsing RJ until an ad popped up that asked me to undress a guy. Naturally, I chose to undress him. I did so by clicking on each button of his shirt until I got low enough to see he had some weird spots on his stomach.

It turns out it was an ad for a site where you can hook up/date other people with syphilis. Now, I never took sex ed in school (do they even teach you about syph?) so forgive me if I seem naive... but syphilis is treatable, yeah? If so, why wouldn't anybody just refrain from sex until they got treated?

I can understand a site for dates/hookups for people with maybe HIV, but syphilis? Seems random. Anybody else come across this ad?

Oh yeah I seen that shit...

I didn't know it was a dating site though. I didn't even bother clicking the rest. I just found it sickening.

I couldn't help myself! I visited the site and browsed the members.

I came across a bisexual guy who was quite cocky regardless of the oral syphilis growing on his face. He labeled himself as stunningly attractive. icon_smile.gif

The treatment of syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is complex. If taken properly, antibiotic treatment with penicillin will usually cure a syphilis infection. If syphilis has progressed to the tertiary stage, antibiotics can prevent further complications, but they cannot reverse damage that has already occurred. Prompt antibiotic treatment will decrease complications and prevent the spread of the infection.

Penicillin is the antibiotic most commonly used to treat syphilis. Penicillin is usually given as a shot (injection).

If you are allergic to penicillin, your health professional may prescribe another antibiotic, such as doxycycline, tetracycline, ceftriaxone, or azithromycin, for the earlier stages of syphilis. Later stages of syphilis may require treatment with penicillin.

Treatment with penicillin cures most cases of syphilis in any stage. Antibiotics prevent further complications of syphilis but may not reverse damage that has already occurred.

Exposed sex partners should be treated for syphilis. Since the chancres in syphilis can make transmission of HIV more likely, testing for both syphilis and HIV should be done.

I knew they had Hmate.com for singles infected with Herpes and/or HPV.

The syphilis site would be kind of strange. However, judging the mental capacity of the general population, and the fact that once infected with syphilis you will always show a presence of antibodies I believe some people might be followers of this type of dating criteria.

That's more than I wanted to know. But I absolutely appreciate it. The information might be handy in the future. Plus it was good read icon_smile.gif

I undressed the guy too but I think it is a "health awareness campaign" against syphilis and the site is called PlentyofSyph.com LOL
