Funny how the Cost of the Tax cuts to the wealthy are just about the same as the Social Security Shortfall
And the Republicans are takin aim at scrapping the entire thing

Remember the old Indian Proverb about the blind men and an Elephant? icon_biggrin.gif

Imagine the difference it would have made to our current financial situation had those cuts never been made in the first place ? Those cuts, were the worst possible thing to have done while starting two expensive wars, and have set the US on a course of spiraling deficits.

But Republicans don't want to admit that the deficit snowball they started rolling would have been adding in size no damn matter what Obama and his administration would have done.

I just read today that with Bush's tax cuts and simultaneously starting two wars his administration added 7 trillion to the debt, so far during Obama's admin. there has been 1.7 trillion added, and a huge portion of that came because of the harm to the economy that the first 7 trillion did. but of course this is all Obama's fault !! Its his economy !!!

Meanwhile, as the US goes in a hole to make the very rich, very much richer, the poor and middle class are getting very much worse off.

WHERE ARE THOSE JOBS THOSE TAX BREAKS ARE SUPPOSED TO PRODUCE ?

I suggest you get your news from the source, the U.S. Treasury Department:

    http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np

National Debt When Bush Took Office: $5.7 trillion

National Debt When Bush Left Office: $10.6 trillion

    That's $5 trillion, not $7 trillion. And that's over 8 years.

National Debt When Obama Took Office: $10.6 trillion

    National Debt Today: $14.3 trillion

That's almost $4 trillion, not $1.7 trillion. And that's in a little more than 2 years.

How is this actually being done? How much money has the U.S. government given to the "very rich?" Specifics please.

Kick Obama out of the White House and put the Democrats in the minority in the House and Senate in 2012 and you'll see LOTS of jobs. icon_wink.gif

well OMB and the treasury dept. should get their facts together I guess.

SB if we return to what the Bushies did 8 out of the last ten years and he had the worst jobs record of the last 5 or so decades and in just 2 years Obama has added twice what he did in his 8 years, then how in hell are things to improve for the jobs market by going back to what has already not worked ?

    NOPE.
The FACTS say that won't happen, SB.

Clinton/Democratic policies created 23 million jobs in 8 years.
BushJr./Republican policies created only 3 million jobs in 8 years.

Repub economic policies have a proven track record of shiity job creation.
In fact, Bush Jr. has the worst track record for job growth on record!

TEN YEARS of Bush tax cuts = almost no new jobs.

Yet, the Republicans are still screaming that more tax cuts will create jobs.

Some of the biggest corporations pay no taxes at all.
