PHOENIX (AP) -- The president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary says his denomination needs to repent for a "form of homophobia that has condemned gays instead of embracing them as fellow sinners.
The Rev. Albert Mohler told his fellow Southern Baptists at their annual meeting that they've only been half right about homosexuality.
Mohler said they've been right to insist that the Bible calls it sin, but wrong to say it's just a choice that people can "turn on and turn off."
He said the hard truth is, "Only the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ gives a homosexual person any hope of release from homosexuality."
THIS IS NEW.......but only as an approach. The Rev. Mohler has this 'Bait & Switch' strategy in his messages for the past year or so.
He says something seemingly shocking HUMAN: that the Church should repent of its homophobia.
Then always follow it with a 'We must use a less obvious tactic in our war against homosexuals'.
I have more respect for Fred Phelps as he is more honest in his hatred.
