I used to work at Urban Outfitters when I was in college, and I knew from then that the company wasn't very gay-friendly, despite the fact that they've targeted their company that way and had like a 70% gay staff. I've been reading articles that are about gay-hating companies ( wal mart is on this one.. who knew icon_rolleyes.gif ? ), but haven't come across a lot that are about companies who are good to their homosexual gay employees.

Does anyone know of any? I've already started shopping green in 2011, I might as well start shopping gay ! icon_lol.gif

If you go to the Human Rights Campaign website they have (I believe) ratings on different companies on how gay friendly they are! I hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

Ironically, the CEO of Urban Outfitters, Glen Senk, is gay. (FYI: That blog post you linked to is wrong. Rick Santorum is not the CEO of Urban Outfitters! The founder of the company, Richard Hayne, contributed to Santorum's campaign)

I personally don't buy into the gay status quo that tells you where not to shop. Just this week, there have been calls to boycott Starbucks because of an isolated incident that occurred at one store. Unfortunately, you'll find bad apples at just about every company. If we boycott them all, we'd starve. And for the record, Starbucks is probably the most progressive company in America! It's CEO Howard Schultz contributes a ton of money to progressive candidates. And they score 100 on HRC corporate equality index.

But I do love your idea of shopping at gay friendly companies. I'd rather focus on where to shop, instead of where not to shop. It's consistent with how I live my life.
