QUOTE AUTHOR GOES HERE'Fuck It': Republican Roy McDonald Crosses Party Line to Support Gay Marriage

A vote on New York's same-sex marriage bill is looming. While religious groups do their best to derail what is ultimately a civil-rights issue, Republican Senator Roy J. McDonald made a career-defining move and headline-stealing statement:

"You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing. You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing."

It looks like Roy McDonald's statements were well-received by his constituents, if his Facebook page is any indication: admonishments are vastly outweighed by praise. Will other representatives still on the fence about the issue take a cue from this? Time will tell: according to the NY Daily News link above, several other Republican senators are open to supporting the same-sex marriage bill.

Can we just move away from the term gay marriage. By calling it "gay marriage" and not just marriage, it has already been changed. So lets move away from this term gay marriage all together.

Because if we get stuck with the term gay marriage, I am going to start to be very vocal about it then should be only available to us real gays, and not our half brothers the bisexuals who already have access to marriage and more rights than us gays. So any man or women who has already been in a hetrosexual marriage would never be eligible for a gay wedding, as they are not gay enough. We have a right too an identity of our own, and that would be a good starting point.

If they use Civil Unions it's all inclusive; but.......why should we be forced to stop at only one?

Sorry, what? It is GAY marriage it is marriage ebtween a man and a man or a woman and a woman.

We don't want marriage, we have "marriage".

And even a bisexual man getting mrried to a man is GAY marriage ebcause the union of the two is a homosexual union, not heterosexual.

    EITHER WAY>

    congrats on this guy, amazing.

Wow, good for him. Nice to see a politician that does the right thing and doesn't just tow the party line one way or another!
