"International Violin Day is celebrated on the birthday of famous composer, pianist and conductor Igor Stravinsky, born on this day in 1882. The violin, or fiddle, has been used in a wide variety of music styles ranging from classic, jazz, folk and even rock. It's a day to appreciate the instrument and the music it makes."

Interesting choice of composer (if that has anything to do with it), since Stravinsky's most famous piece of music for violin/fiddle is Histoire du soldat, unless you count transcriptions (which would be either the Suite Italienne or the Mavra Chanson Russe).

I.e. not very famous pieces outside of classical buffs.

This guy is so under-appreciated: Percy Faith. Happy Violin Day everyone!
