The price of everything has gone up in the last few months.... the stores blame it on higher transportation costs.
BUT, now that the price of gas has come down...have the prices?? Hell no... now that they got us, they're going to keep picking our pockets as long as they can.

This morning we went to the supermarket, and one of the things on our list was Hellman's mayonnaise. The cost of the jar was nearly $9 USD! For ordinary mayonnaise?

And then we got some frozen vegetables, and a few ounces of green peas were close to $4! I spent nearly $100 on stuff that only took a couple of bags to carry. Have you guys in the US checked your grocery bills lately?

I am a member of PETA (people eating tasty animals), I did not claw myself to the top of the food chain to eat veggies! Good thing I have 30 chickens laying organic eggs.

Where the hell are you shopping at? $9 Hellmans...?

Though to be fair, it's been a while since I bought that stuff. I much prefer to make my own when in small batches I need it so I don't have a tub of the nasty stuff cluttering up my fridge.

But I hear you on groceries in general. My bill last year was around $40 USD/week, now up to about $55/week.

But I think that is due to my adoption of a rather heavier protein diet over the past year as much as gas prices and general inflation.

Actually I'm not giving the complete picture - that figure is at the main store I shop at. I get some Asian foods periodically which would skew that figure, I'm guessing to around, maybe $70/week?

And that's stripping out household goods that aren't food related.

Funny thing is, I am eating a lot less than I did a year ago or more, averaging about 2500cal/day with being somewhat active, from around 3500 last year with being a sedentary slug.

that's a decent switch up there ... . only trouble is.... is maintaining that threshold of where you are at now, for me anyhow... icon_idea.gificon_wink.gif

I love my meats... beef, pork, venison, poultry... My beef are grass fed and the chickens are ranged.

Maybe I should stop selling the calves and start keeping them until they are heavy enough to sell to y'all. lol....icon_biggrin.gif

cold saidHow much do you guys pay for a lb of chicken breast at the supermarket?

If you buy in bulk, like an 8 pound package you pay about $3.00 a pound (but only if the bulk package is also on sale). In many cases you sacrifice quality for quantity, so I found out after tasting a free range chicken instead of a battery hen.

+1. And not only that, but they are shrinking the portions too. So basically, you're now paying more for less.
