What happens when you enter your password? Be careful though not to get credited multiple times for one app..
Why don't you just buy an iTunes card and redeem it on your account?
In my Mac AppStore Xcode costs €3.99, don't know your prices though. Think this is the easiest fix?

sounds like it could be a problem with you iMac's registration or you apple account/ID.

Apple has excellent phone service. Whenever I get stumped I just ring them up in the US. The wait is always less than 5 minutes, and I get someone who speaks actual US/Canadian English. Their top customer service rating from Consumer Reports and others who evaluate the industry is not by mistake.

But one thing I did find was that I often have to double-check what account I'm using on iTunes. When I bought my old iPhone 3GS (now on a 4) I already had a Google e-mail account. Shortly after that I got Apple's own Mobile Me account (me.com). But for some reason they've never been able to blend the old account with the new, and I have to double-check which one I last used. Some apps only work with Google e-mail (the very first I installed) and all the others with Mobile Me.

    It just works. icon_lol.gif

Is your Mac up to date? Even if you just bought it, you should probably check to see if there are any updates/patches.

I figured it out. After trying pretty much everything I could, all I ha to do was to deathorize all my computers which was a pain in the ass since iTunes for for no apparent reason was prompting me to update my billing info every time I signed in. Finally I made it happen and the purchase went through. I think it happened cause I reached my max # of authorized computers

I don't understand if the problem was such a simple thing, couldn't the system just detect it and let me know I reached my max instead of literally not throwing a single error message and asking for password over and over again and asking to update my billing info? WTF

    Macs just work, my balls

They work except when it's user error.

Blame DRM. It's bad for everyone, regardless of platform.
