Hey NYC guy here, very athletic, good at kayaking, but dont own one. Looking for buddies in the area who either have 2 kayaks, or know where we can rent one for the day. The free kayaking offered in a very limited area of the Hudson off of NYC no longer cuts it for me! Am very open to any suggestions. Just love getting out on the water in a kayak.icon_biggrin.gif

Northport/Huntington Bay near me, 1 hour from Penn Station via the LIRR, is a great place to rent kayaks: http://www.glacierbaysports.com/rentals_north.php

the perennial question for those of us who paddle is...... what KIND of kayaking you into bud? whitewater, flatwater, or ocean? each has it's own charms and excitements...... and if it is whitewater, some jerk (like me) is gunna ask further ----- are you a creeker or a playboater? hope you found some buds to do the sort of paddling you're keen on. as a whitewater/playboater sorta guy, finding a chum to do that sort of thing is sorta like finding hen's teeth. however, it seems i found one hen's tooth in irland --- his profile on here is irish kayaker. best to ya, and kayaking IS the BEST sport..... well, maybe second to paragliding......... or not, hard to decide.....

I havent kayaked much at all, only did it for the first time 2 summers ago. But the minute I started, I fell in love with it. --- and gotta say I think I was able to do it fairly well. I know I went much faster than anyone else in my group. It was a fairly cheap kayak (I think), aluminum(?), and we were in a bay off Cape Cod. So Im not sure what kind I'd like but my guess is I'd like any kind with a paddle!icon_lol.gif
