Warrior Dash? I'm doing the one in Indiana and wondered if anyone had any training tips or advice.

I've run the Warrior Dash twice, and I plan on running it again next year. Definitely build up your stamina with running and cardio. I get that in usually by "running" on an elliptical machine to spare my knees, but there is a difference between running on a machine and terrain running. Be prepared to dodge trees and jump over logs while running, and if it rained the day before the race you may be running in a few inches of mud at times. Also, be prepared for running uphill, depending on where the race is located.

Don't neglect the upper body with training either, as some of the obstacles involve climbing. All that aside, the Warrior Dash is a really fun event and I think you will have a great time. I have plenty of pics from the two I ran in my album on here.

I just heard about this today. I'm thinking about doing the one in New York. I hear there's all kinds of crazy stuff like barbed wire, navigating a trench in pitch dark, jumping through junkyard cars, running through swinging tires, jumping over fires. It looks more like a test of overall body endurance.

I've done two 10k mud runs, which look awfully similar to these warrior dashes (minus the leaping over fire). In my opinion, not too much training is required. Get your endurance up if you want to make a good time, but the obstacles, at least the ones I did, weren't too demanding.

I guess it's more for fun than a grueling challenge?

I'm doing one in Ohio in September, I guess. I don't know anything about it. I'm going more to meet a friend. Haven't even gotten around to reading about it. I'm more worried about not getting injured and not overheating. I am guessing probably a good race to wear shoes that are about ready for the trash heap?

Yeah, you will NOT be able to salvage your shoes. Though, the shoe piles they provide for the Warrior Dash are somehow recycled for charity.
