    My shortlist is:
    (a) he is married to a woman AND she is not aware he is trying to have popcorn in another movie theatre,
    (b) he is in an official-sounding LTR with a dude BUT does not want to jeopardize that with something as unpredictable as a grindr profile and five minutes of witty banter .... just yet, or
    (c) he is not "out" and has family members/religious leader friends on his page that he wants to keep in the dark until he gets elected to national office on the Republican ticket and starts tapping his foot unnecessarily fast in an airport restroom and later pleads nolo to any and all charges stemming from such an incident.

I only use my page for professional networking. Nothing inappropriate looking besides "checking into" a bar with a guy on facebook Places and even then, that really rarely happens. What gives?

Are there any legitimate reasons to not want to add someone that is a potential Mr. [insert your name here] that I have not come across yet? Or is it just sketchy as f*** and I am right to insta-block everyone that pulls that garbage?

Questions that define our era icon_eek.gif

I have a boyfriend of three years. I have grindr on my phone. And I look at it everyday. No intention on cheating though. Just curious about other gay guys out there in my area.

Also I'm totally hot since I left highschool, so when the fat red head jock logs on and sees me I feel like I've just dominated life like a boss.

Adding someone from Grindr on facebook is almost as bad as giving someone from the M4M section in craigslist your phone number.

With that premise I assume you have something on your profile to indicate you are just looking for friends or chat or something. My post was addressing the "single" types who are looking for the romantic first date/relationshippy kind of thing ideally, rather than the cavalier hook-up in the Arby's restroom or the just-conversation-that-is-it-expect-nothing-else ... according to the lies on their profile, at least.

If someone has on their profile "happily partnered, just here for conversation" I am not going to expect facebook friending. No matter how much they know about Tolkien. But if they make it look like date/dinner/see if this is relationship material then ... isn't facebook the most logical next stop to begin verifying identity and minimizing rape/killing on the first meeting since I probably have a post-it note on my desk in my office at work with contact info/tax info for the person at best, since my family/social network is not exactly ....existing.

For many people, Facebook is for keeping track and communicating with their real world friends.

Also a consolidated way of verifying education/work/tax records of someone you just "met" and are considering inviting into your apartment where your most precious Nintendo DS and goldfish live. If someone says they studied at Harvard but have 100 friends, none of which are in the Harvard network, that is a pretty clear instant *Danger Will Robinson!* moment without looking further icon_biggrin.gif
