Azariah Southworth, host of The Remix, a popular Christian youth show, announced today that he has come out.

“This has been a long time coming. I’m in a place where I’m at peace with my faith, friends, family and more importantly myself. I know this will end my career in Christian television, but I must now live my life openly and honestly with everyone. This is my reason for doing this,” Southworth says.

Southworth has been hosting and producing the popular Christian TV show, The Remix for a year and a half. It is in syndication and can be seen in more than 128 million homes worldwide. It averages more than 200,000 viewers weekly on one of three networks. It has featured major Christian acts such as Jars of Clay, Avalon, Superchick, Building 429 and Rachael Lampa.

Why don't all the TV preachers just save time and come out en masse?

Matey in all religions, to be a homosexual, is wrong. The Ten commandments tell us so... He was to grow up on TV, so why not come out on it.

After spending many years as a Mormon. One got to the point, of not being able to live a lie anymore. I can not believe I made myself endure that.... But One also refused to take on the High Priesthood.

I myself struggle to understand, how anyone whom is out, and still goes to church?

But while people fear death, there will always be a need for religion, and there are a many homo's, whom fear getting old, and death.

Oh how the wroth is going too rain dawn on him....

kudos to him. I know all to well the fear that comes with being a christian and trying to reconcile your faith and sexuality. I believe god is pleased with him. When it comes to coming out, we are our own worst enemy not the church.

Well... that is true, because Orthodox Jews are very strict and religious?[/quote]

One went to a liberal Jewish synagogue, a number of times. There were two guys, whom had wed, there. only rule was the non Jew, had to convert.

But the Jews do not believe in the new testament, nor does One. One has long said, that the Catholic priesthood, is an exclusive gay men's club.

Just as well alter boys are not able to fall pregnant.

..... or gettin' outed stalking a bunch of 17 and 18 yr old interns

Ahhh... you can just smell the hypocrisy in the mornin'

This is hardly surprising. I know a lot of people say as a joke that most people in Christian entertainment are gay, but it's actually a reality. Half the Christian music industry is gay and Christian labels have a tongue in cheek division of their PR departments that is devoted to "the cover up". They will pair up male artists with female artists to give the illusion of a good Christian family life, but that's just an attempt to sell records. It's really kind of sad and bizarre when you think about it...Christians lying SPECIFICALLY to other Christians just to make money...it's one thing to do it to everyone, but another when you do it to people whom you are supposes to be on the same level with...well...Jesus must be extremely embarrassed now.

I think its really courageous of him to do it so publicly, and maybe this will help other gay christians out there have the strength to come out too. I know i went to catholic school for almost 8 years, and I was afraid to come out, having seen other guys kicked out of the school for even the suggestion of that... And yes, I'd do him too... you know, after we're married and all ;)

It shouldn't end his career in Christians music, but it will. Just read about happened to Christian music producer Joe Hogue. It not only got him booted from the Christian music industry, telling his 9-year-old son he is gay got him time in jail. That's a story you wouldn't believe unless you read it yourself.

Is it any wonder Tennessee was home to the Scopes trial?

Thank you! It's not in the 10 commandments, it's in the old testament and related to the act of worshiping idols but neither here nor there, it takes a LOT of guts for this guy to come out. He must have been just eaten up alive inside hiding who he was all these years.

I hope he can redirect his talents in an area similar that is more accepting of who he is and what he can offer than to condemn him for sharing what the Christian faith is all about.... love!
