Alright, so here's the deal. I've been studying abroad for the past 6 months and have not been going to the gym, it was killing me but I'm looking forward to getting back. I have been going to the gym for years now, started with just cardio and abs and a few years ago moved to doing weight training during the summer months, but it's all just been guess work, I've learned a few exercises and asked for tips at the gym but I want to get serious about it now. I've lost a lot of the fat I've been trying to lose and now I'm trying to continue to slim down while gaining some muscle.

I was going to use one of the RJ plans until I got myself comfortable with routines to make my own. But I was wondering which routine I should go for: The Muscle building or the Lean and Strong if my goal is something more like this: (from the Which body type are you training for thread)

Also, can someone give me help/advice on protein powders/drinks? I realize protein is a key part of building muscle, but they all seem the same to me and they're al so expensive I'm hesitant to just walk into the store and pick one blindly.

    Thanks guys.

You are probably about to be told a dozen contradicting things. Just lift regularly, eat enough, sleep enough and stick with whatever you decide on long enough to see some results. icon_smile.gif. Youll learn what works best for you as you go.

If you are going to supplement buy from a reputable source like Stay out of GNC unless you're loaded and don't care!

    Best of luck to you!

I'd go for whichever you really want to. Every body is different, but abs are made in the kitchen, as are muscles. Ergo, figure out what works for you in terms of building muscle and good luck for you.
