Alas! the grandmother closest to me was half-Indian. She never hit me with a fan, but she did have VERY interesting cusswords when she gets startled. icon_lol.gif

Have you seen The Wedding Banquet? A not-so-typical Asian family's reaction to their son's coming out, and it's a really well-made film.

Have you watched it again recently? I don't think it aged very well. "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman" is better, IMO. I also really liked his recent "Lust, Caution".

supermodel: yes I'm very unacceptable to my fellow San Franciscans, in so many ways. Also, how come a supermodel doesn't have a picture?

ides: I haven't watched it in ages. I'll rent it again. Sometimes a movie gets better as it ages in my head. It's like that for old folk. I'm very anxious to see Lust, Caution.

jprich: I agree, there's something about Lenne that makes me all warm and fuzzy.

jackoz: You're gonna love me. There's just gajillions of things I don't know. Each one more hilarious than the last!

lenne: I gotta admit I'm curious about your relationship with your fan-wielding Grandmother. Does she still beat you about the head with it?

Pop quiz: FOB was most frequently used for anyone who slept in the Lincoln bedroom during what decade, and what did it spell out then?

well without coming across as ignorant, I just usually tend to enjoy my friend's parents/grandparents who are from a different country. not saying they're FOB necessarily, but just their cultural clash/take on the culture their fully americanized children are growing up in makes for some pretty fun/funn conversations and comments! diff american customs, sayings, etc can be all that much funnier when coming from the POV of someone already set in their own cultural ways :0)

also, my FAVORITE thing in the world is when my friends imitate their parents accents/ways of speaking (kinda like what MCho does!)
