So, I have a giant white Labradoodle that follows me around all day, and enjoys short runs (2 miles is her max). No, she doesn't sleep on the bed, but right up against it on the floor. She's also a certified therapy dog, and does a little volunteering with kids and disabled folks. What kind of "dog person" are you?

Well I have four dogs 15, yo, 13, yo, 3 yo, Border Terrier, and a 2 yo Border terrier too, who is also in training to be a therapy dog as well. I also like to take my younger dogs hunting when we can. I am about to go away on holidays soon and have arranged a house sitter just for the dogs so they don't have to leave home. I can live without humans, but not me dogs.

I've got a pit/lab puppy; she's my hiking / camping buddy. She doesn't like very many people, but we're working on that. She loves to follow me on short mountain biking trails, but isn't old enough for me to want to run her yet.

We have a Chocolate Lab named Rosemary, whom my better half refers to as the Chastity Belt. She sleeps in between us most nights. Up until just a few months ago, we also had a Rottweiler + Chow Chow + Chocolate Lab + Collie mix named Tanqueray, who succumbed to liver cancer in February.

I have an 18 month old boxer named Tyson. He is the happiest, most social dog on the planet. He's extremely athletic and full of energy. He does sleep with me and is definitely on the spoiled side. He deserves every bit of it, though. He brings so much pure joy into my life. icon_biggrin.gif

For me the choice was all about keeping a low profile:

They suit me perfectly - big, smart, athletic, outdoorsy, loyal, protective, loving, cuddly and aggressive when provoked.

i have a big sweet , slightly dumb stray dog that ended up here around Xmas time.
We kept him, had him tested, got all his shots .Sadly for him we had the vet remove some parts of his anatomy.
God knows what mix is in there, but he's really cute.

And a good change after the 6 months i spent with my cousin's chow chow last summer. !His name was Marcel ,i loved him but also wanted to kill him every day.
    cute as hell :

Thank you. They go everywhere with me, so we have a very strong bond. They walk right beside me with no leash all over town. They even go to work with me. But they're 14 now and I feel like my time with them is drawing near, so I just keep them as healthy as possible and give them lots of love. What else can you do?

I'm afraid I'm just not an animal person.

So cool man! I love big dogs and especially ones that can serve such an awesome purpose!

I personally have a soft spot in my heart for the golden retriever. I really love a big loyal dog that knows when its okay to let loose and play, but also can be very obedient.

Two schnoodle girls. Jessie and Maggie. Maggie loves to hunt. We have moles in the side yard and she comes in covered in mud and dirt. It's so funny. Jessie is a little jock. She loves to play frisbee and catch. Didn't want them when we got 'em. Now I'm not sure what I'd do without them. I think Jessie is in one of my profile pics. We were driving from Portland to San fran for the holidays and she decided to nap on my shoulder. Great dogs! They dont shed and are super smart.
