Oh boy where to begin...Kennedy Airport takes the cake for worst airport...going through customs and security at Kennedy?!?!? I swear, that airport had to be like a prototype to hell or something because they are beyond rude and impatient. This lady who worked in customs was filing her nails and got upset when I asked her a question. Newark Airport is my hometown airport but no better than Kennedy because you have to make sure you eat a meal right before you fly because with the exception of one terminal, once you get past security, your food choices are extremely limited and their flights are always delayed. I'm actually gonna start to fly to Atlantic City now to go back home to Jersey to avoid Newark. LaGuardia is a whole different story, the only thing it really has going for it is it's closeness to Manhattan and low fares, other than that, a complete last resort. I have never taken off on time from ANY of these airports, always either delayed or number 26 for take off...All 3 New York area airports suck royally in their own special ways. Sometimes I dread going home due to that fact....
Pretty good summary.
Here's something you might want to consider: Amtrak!
If you live near Raleigh or Charlotte, there's several trains that go through to Philadelphia / Trenton / Newark / NYC each day. Some of them even have cars where you can reserve a private room - with a bed - for just a little more money. Plus, you get actual, GOOD, hot meals too!
Back on topic. The controllers at JFK / LGA / EWR are top notch. It's a difficult job made even more difficult at JFK because of the large number of flights piloted by people where English is not their native language and it makes for dicey communications at times.
Those interested... here's the audio... you've got to go in about 21 or 22 minutes. If you've never heard an ATC recording from a busy airport, you'll probably get dizzy listening to this and trying to make sense of it all! http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kj...KJFK-Gnd-Twr-Jun-20-2011-2230Z.mp3
