And I just got back from the dinner. We went to East on the 3rd Ave. This is the only place that I know in New York City that serves conveyer belt sushi. In case you don't know, the sushi small plates are placed on top of the belt, and you just take what you want. The price is color-coded. White plates are the cheapest, followed pink, green, red, blue, silver, black, and then gold. Deki and I had mostly the green and pink plates. ^_^

You can also order additional stuff. I order a grilled calamari and egg seafood custard (chawamushi). Deki ordered....well, see it for yourself.

To be fair, it did not taste like KFC. It had much less batter and the meat was marinated much better - Japanese terriaki style.

Well, for those of you-know-who-you-ares, we're gonna go out next time and the 4 (or 5) of us will get really crazy in a bar somewhere. Hahahaha....(Whoever wants to join us is welcome! It's just that so far I only know of 4-5 interested people for next time.... I love meeting people on RJ! I love people in general.) icon_biggrin.gif

Jake, if you are reading this post. Dinner for the two of us cost less than 40 dollars altogether and I was stuffed! icon_smile.gif

No. Just conveyer belt. In SF I have been the ones with the train and also with the boat. The sushi plates are actually on a dragon boat it was fun. icon_smile.gif

They're good. If you come to NYC I'll take you there too. If you don't like fish there are other options. Like the veggie rolls. icon_biggrin.gif

It was a cheat meal for both of us. We went to GNC afterwards in order to lessen our guilt of what we just ate. I bought myoplex protein shakes. No joke. icon_smile.gif

So what were you celebrating? Spill!

Great way to initiate someone into sushi, btw, since it looks from the picture almost like a bakery or a pastry shop.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidI simply adore sushi. There are some good places in Chicago where you can get lunch specials for $25 and it's an all you can eat style type of place. Needless to say I over-stuff myself and eat way too much.

LOL!!! Well, it's good for getting a lot of protein icon_smile.gif. I wonder what is better source of protein? cooked or raw (fish I meant)

How fun... Back in my youth my friends and I used to frequent this restaurant that had sushi boats going around a big bar too... Those were the days!

From the pic the prices actually don't look too bad... And the portions look really big! icon_smile.gif But if the two of you got out for under $40, you didn't cheat that much! icon_wink.gif

    [/quote]

The amount of protein will be the same whether it is raw or cooked, but the raw is easier for the body to breakdown and digest being as it is in a simpler form. When protein is cooked it is denatured and therefore more complex to breakdown, which is not necessarily a bad thing depending on your ultimate goals.

(Denatured protein is "harder" to digest, which means that it has an increased thermal effect, requiring more calories to be burned in order to digest it.)

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidPlus, there is a concern for parasites. I hope to never run into parasite problems when eating sushi.

That's why you eat the cooked (or veggie) kind! hahaha. Salmon usually is ok though, I think.

    @ MMTM

I'm scared now that there might be worms in my tummy....@_@. It's ok I don't think I ate any uncooked fish today. I haven't had uncooked sushi in a while, now I think about it.

By the way, isn't there like parasite-be-gone stuff that was sold by nature's way? I wonder if it works.
