The Mosuo of China are among the few tribes in the world that have preserved matriarchy... they do not have marriage and most relationships are entered and left freely... the result is not promiscuity, unlike what most westerners seem to think... but serial monogamy where the search for the perfect partner is embarked on from the start:

"The mosuo hold the search for true love higher than anything else..."

"They feel that other cultures are hypocritical when they expect success the first time round"

Interesting piece on Mosu. I like the monk's message. Having always been practical in my love nature, I enjoy very much their non-jealous attitude towards sex and relationships. I'm not sure hypocrisy is quite the accurate description of Western relationships though I do often find them to be conflicted and sometimes contradicting.

While monogamous till-death-do-us-part-type relationships can lead to hypocritical behavior, certainly some find them very satisfying and others might settle but still maintain their integrity. So even if the Mosu way is more natural, to say others are hypocrites because they are not in open relationships or relationships easily dismantled is either a bit of a mischaracterization or simply a misuse of the word.

No, you've misunderstood how it works... they do not have open relatiionsips the way we use the word on here.... they are serially monogamous (they date one person at a time, and switch partners after a while).. in a search for the "one,"

So they DO go after the monogamous till-death-do-us-part relationshps, but they do not expect it to be the first person they fall in love with.. western culture is hypocritical in expecting the first one to be the last one as well... (perhaps not in modern western culture, but traditinoal western culture works this way)
