Is that's what's causing all this apathy?

No, people are generally apathetic, which is causing all this misery right now. Especially now, i feel like people have been demoted to the base level of consumer and nothing else. The humanity is gone and all we're expected to do is buy and die.

theantijock saidI don't find apathy as my friends are very caring people, but I do find misery manifested as frustation & fright & huge amounts of stress. Many who lost so much in the recent crashes are still licking their wounds (some of us are still down 60-80% of what we had--one friend of a friend had lost 90% of his net worth to that Stanford scumbag). And then both that group and even those who recovered some or who had not much to lose to begin with are uncertain of our economic futures because nobody can tell us for certain in what direction this economy is headed.

We need to stop trying to patch holes. And start building a whole new thing.

    What are we apathetic about?
