Okay, these are real people. And I feel guilty about getting a chuckle.

All right, just to be contrary, we could use this to our advantage. The selling point: look who we took off the market! You don't want these babes trolling at the local pool hall for your daughters do you? So let's just let them marry.

I am pretty sure that's a man and a woman, but I might be wrong.

However, it does seem whenever a gay married couple is on television they seem to look like those two.

That's what I thought, but the quote said it was both women, so I thought what the hell.

I took it to be a heterosexual couple, too, and it reminded me of this satirical short piece by George Saunders in the New Yorker a few years back:

    http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2004/03/08/040308sh_shouts

It made me laugh out loud and I still think it's funny.

Actually, I don't really think I'm being high-minded...I didn't think the picture was that funny...self-depricating humor I can stand behind...but humor at someone else's expense I just don't find very funny...

Call me crazy...I think we can do better...sorry to ruin the party...

I agree with you 100% and feel that the gay community sometimes is self destructing.

    Hey, I like their rings.

"Diamonds are a girl's best friend."

I agree with David on this one. This isn't very nice, these aren't public figures (who are automatically open to ridicule), and neither are they fun people who post "interesting" things on this site that, also, open them to ridicule.

While there is nearly nothing that I take seriously, this one seemed a tad unnecessary and mean spirited for me.

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong/Illegal

    1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

    2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

    3) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

    4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

    5) Straight marriage would be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

    6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

    7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

icon_cool.gif Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

    9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

    10) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

(one of the saddest parts about our society is that these arguments, before the humorous common sense, are the real reasons why people can't accept gay marriages.

    )

Gay marriage? HA! When you could have one of these inbred beauties? Hell, you could even share them with a buddy. They're into that kind of thing, deep in the heart of Texas.

Shhhhhh, McGay, we're not allowed to make fun of anyone on here. We're morally superior and PC, and they're not on the Approved to Make Fun Of list.

I once passed a note in the 8th grade which went into great detail how ugly this girl was who had a crush on me. It was intercepted by the gym/geography teacher.
I remember watching his face turn red as he read it there at his desk while we were taking a test.
He grabbed me by the ear and took me into the hallway and lifted me up by my neck.
With my feet dangling off of the ground he asked me who told me I was so cute that I could write such awful things. I couldn't answer of course, because my air was completely cut off, but i offered my best sputtering of noises.
He went on to tell me that someone somewhere thinks i am the ugliest person they have ever seen and that even the people who might think I was cute were wrong because I had been so vile to someone who couldn't defend themselves. I knew I had done something beyond horrible. I also felt like someone pulled open the curtain to reveal the puny wizard..

It shook me up for years to come, seriously. I would get a panic attack thinking about it. How often does someone get to the root of your ego when you are just a kid?

These forums reintroduce me to my eighth grade self,( especially the last few days with people quitting, rejoining and the endless quest for attention )
complete with cliques, child-like innuendo, thoughtless grandstanding and banal humor.
Constantly making fun of people and being so damn defensive says more about you then it does about them.
The utter transparency of it all is the funny ..err.. tragic part.
Aero used to lament the lack of original thought in these postings and I have to agree.
Laughing at the absurd (thanks avi8tor2005) or calling someone on their sh*t to their face is different from laughing at someone who is unable to defend themselves..
