I know people usually hate threads like this(as do I for the most part), but I wanted to make this about positivity.

If you were awkward in your youth and now embrace yourself or had low self-esteem, your personality makes up for your flaws, whatever..post it here.

As for myself, I grew up around Caucasian kids, so for a good part of my childhood:
    - I wished I was white.
    As I went through puberty:
    - I wished I could go back to my lighter skin tones as a child.
    - I hated my wide nose and wanted a more angled one.
    - I hated my lips and considered lip reduction.
-I also hated my lady hips and rather large behind.

It has taken the longest, but for the most part my self-hating is over. I've embraced my culture, facial features as they fit my face and surgery would make me look like Marcus Patrick and I love my warm skin tone. Sure I'm not the typical cup of tea in the gay or any community, but I could care less. My body grew into itself and my hips fit my body and I have a perky behind that goes 'pow". Senior year of highschool when a girl commented that my butt was bigger than hers, I simply thanked her for the compliment. I now get compliments from guys and dudes O.O haha

I think my personality more than makes up for whatever "flaws" I may have. I've been told so, but had to search deep inside and see it for myself.

So post what you hated and now embrace.

I don't mean...being overweight, etc things you can't change except through comestic surgery and have accepted about yourself icon_smile.gif

And if you still haven't accepted yourself, encourage the dude who still is feeling low icon_smile.gif

My brother told me I when I was 9 that I was going to have a big Jewish nose and would have to get a nose job like he did. So I started punching my nose. Turns out I got the Italian nose, so I look fine now. icon_biggrin.gif

Little did I know as a dark skinned youth with big poufy lips surrounded by thin-lipped blondes that I'd be all the rage when I hit the New York gay scene.

I was very very skinny, and tall. It was the 70s and the guys wore platform boots so I did too, lol
My mixed heritage gave me a huge afro.

As one young lady succinctly told me once, "You look like a giant brown Q-tip."

I was so desperate I went to the Doc and asked him about steroids. He suggested I let age, fitness, a good diet and gravity do their work. Well whaddaya know, he was right.
