If you follow Gizmodo, or any of the well-known "illustrators" these days, Sam Spratt - that (straight..le sigh) hunk of an artist - recently put out this message to straight men. All the more reason that Sam makes me swoon:

    Photobucket

And here's a picture of the artist himself. Sam, if you're secretly on here...you know where to find me.

    How is that shaming? Seriously?

And as far as those fundamentalist christians are concerned, they SHOULD be shamed, indeed.

I support Civil Unions. But I never ever want to get married; never. That belongs to hetrosexuals, and bisexuals. But then I'm a real person, and only a man.

But one did not say I was not a man! In fact, one stated I was a man!! Real Man seem to apply something pseudo.

So one was to state I am a real person, yet only a man; as in nothing pseudo.icon_wink.gif

But the fact I did come out as a 5 year old, took balls, certainly bigger than those of guys who come out in their 40s/50s, who think they are real men.

yet I'm also comfortable with my sexuality; always have been, thus i don't need to overcompensate, to seemingly be more manly just because I'm a poofter. Because being a homosexual does not make one less a man. It's a wonderful thing being as secure as I am.

if thats your interpretation. But then I have been in a homosexual relationship for almost as long as you have been breathing, and neither of us have a desirer to get married. We don't see the need as it will not help pay off our almost payed off mortgage.

But then you were not alive let along survived the gay plague as I did when so many died and fleed, where I and a few others in my city stood steadfast to a gay community many had abandoned, the things I witnessed, would have an ever lasting effect on anyone, and those who were not strong enough killed themselves. But you would not be able to comprehend any of that. Oh the Gay community has a very dark past, it's not all rainbows. Come back and talk to me in 22 years.

Wow, really? Can we not just see the good message coming out of this from a straight ally?

Whether you agree with gay marriage or not (which if you don't, that boggles my mind, but whatever), I think this message means a great deal coming from 1.) a well-known artist, and 2.) a straight man.

And here's the deal - not every straight guy out there is going to start supporting a gay marriage initiative with rainbows and sunshine campaigning. Sometimes it takes a little shame, and this was done in a fun way that may just poke a few more guys toward support.

You're just dealing in semantics. Civil unions or marriage, if you break up, you're still going to have to get a DEEVORCE! I know someone in a domestic partnership in CA, who is having to go through a divorce, even though he's not even legally married.

And to the poster who said it's wrong to shame straight men into supporting gay marriage...Was it okay to shame people into supporting civil rights legislation to give African Americans their civil rights? I think so.

Sad that when we get support from the straight community concerning gay rights that some want to turn it into something ugly instead of just being appreciative. We are a minority. Our numbers are small. If we want to have more victories like what happened in New York yesterday, than we need to be welcoming and accept the help and support when it is given and offered.

I well know, that both would entail divorce. But the diffrence is Civil Unions is separate from the religus, heterosexual bass marriage, and would receive less opposition. As I myself am in a 20+ year relationship, our home at this point is worth 2.5 million, and going up, just that alone would prevent us from having a clear cut separation. We also have a family of 4 dogs and 2 cats. He could have the cats and I get the dogs; yer right. No I get the dogs.

I personally don't care what they call it. I'm just concerned about us having equal treatment under the law. And being called marriage doesn't mean that it has to be performed by a clergyman. Thousands of civil marriages are performed every year for straight couples.

I am glad to hear that you are in a long term relationship, but if you ever have trouble deciding who gets the cats and who gets the dogs, I like both and would be happy to take them. LOL

You know what this is just like? Only a true man, who is masculine and comfortable / secure enough about his own sexuality, would wear the color PINK as a part of his wardrobe attire. So there you have it gents. icon_smile.gif a real man supports gay marriage =)

    I LOVED THE MESSAGE!!
