It was fucking amazing, words can't describe. I came out here for my 21st birthday vacation, and I got to drink in the parade and got the whole crowd riled up. I got thousands of cheers and smiles, hundreds of high fives and kisses and I waved around this huge rainbow flag and it was probably the single most awesome positive experience I have had thus far in my life.

So was the rest of the vacation!

Just wanted to share, happy pride everybody!!

Damn, dude... I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I've lived in Chicago my whole life and I've never ever been. And I was even close to that area today. I had a very emotional moment as I saw numerous people with rainbow flags and half-naked walking by me. Although dressing half-naked and waving rainbow flags is not my thing, I would have liked to go. It's funny because I have never had the urge to go to this parade but today the feelings got to me. Even straight people were there, which made me more upset. Why can't I go??? I guess part of me is still really scared of being gay icon_sad.gif

Great for you! I led the first gay pride parade in the history of Fargo, North Dakota on my motorcycle in 2004. A week later I managed to get approval from "Dykes on Bikes" to ride with them, as their sole "Designated Gay Guy" in the lead element of the Twin Cities Gay Pride Parade. Which is claimed to be the 3rd largest in the US. Do you know what it feels like to parade in front of several hundred thousand spectators, all the media there? I've posted pics here before of both.

And I've marched on foot in other gay Prides, and pedaled a bicycle. Isn't it great, as you say?

And I can anticipate what the naysayers will post. "*I* wouldn't do that, *I* wouldn't be involved in that. *I* wouldn't show myself in a gay celebration."

But I'm glad you did. Demonstrating more balls and conviction than many of these guys here. Congrats!

Chicago pride is nice, I've been there a few times. Milwaukee is still the best though.

Man minibar sucks, the drinks were too expensive. I liked roscoes, scarlet and sidetracks the best. I met a bunch of bartenders from all over outside of work though, I went up wednesday and got the boystown experience without the crowds and travelers. Pics comin here soon

Here's a few, I was going nuts during the parade so I only have a couple of me that friends took. And 1 or 2 shots of the crowd. I had a flask in the back of my shorts, and people would give me a lot of jello shots and beers too, it was awesome.

I was there too! WHAT A BLAST!

I learned something too! Pride is a celebration of sexuality - but its waay more than that! We had 2 straits in my group alone and I met a few others! Its a big ol' celebration of love, acceptance of people and companionship!!!

Yes there were a lot of hot men- which def was awesome- but I took SO MUCH MORE from the experience. What I truely loved were the churches with flags (I saw 3 of them walking), the school bus supporting equality and, to my huge surprise - a lot of middle and high school age kids supporting in the parade.

The way the chicago community makes such a huge effort to say 'HEY- LETS LOVE EACHOTHER! " really hit me in a great way!

    Jealous. Looks awesome!

Here's a cool little story/commentary from a non-political site about the vandalism. I think it's particularly well written and concise.

Yeah man it was so great, life changing. It was suchhh a positive experience. And how many times in your life can you cheer at a crowd and jump up and down and get 20-50 cheers back. haha. Being home is so lame now
