Hey guys, I am a first year student at the UBC and I will be flying to Vancouver on the 31st of July (yes my ticket is confirmed).

Initially I was planning to stay with a friend of mine but due to some personal reasons he is not able to rent me the room.

And so right now I am in desperate need of an apartment. :/

As I will be moving to school on the 1st of Sept, I will only be renting the room for 1 month, that is from 31st July to 31st August.

Really need some help here, have been trying to look for apartments online but I thought it would be better to stay with someone from the circle. icon_smile.gif

I am 21, clean, responsible and easy.

Rent is negotiable, but please don't be too harsh on me, as I am just a student. Hahaha...

Thanks guys, pls send me a mail on RJ if you have an offer!

    Looking forward to Vancouver! icon_biggrin.gif

O cool, you're in UBC? I'm applying there as well... do let me know how you get on and everything in a mail as Im curious...

As for a month place to stay.. have you tried finding something through couchsurfing? You can for sure get your self a place to stay for the first few days while you are looking that way.. just go to www.couchsurfing.org,create a profile and you can ask around there as well

Look for a sublet on craigslist or so... to bridge a couple days between arrival you can look for one of the hostels downtown. There are some cheap ones on the eastside, around hastings st, victory sq, that area

    also look for weekly rentals

    they may require a deposit

    craigslist.org (canada and us only)

also try canada's best value inn. some of their locations in Canada, the US (america's best value) and China (china's best value) will do low weekly rates...the one in shanghai was decent for the price

i looked up and saw that there is one on frasier highway (don't know if that is close to where you are staying)

do a google search for "cheap weekly motels/inns/hotels vancouver"

    hope that helps

craiglist is definitely your best bet. Avoid downtown as it tends to get more expensive. As long as you're close to public transport, you should be fine.

If everything else fails, just live on the street. The east hastings area is typically safe and comfortable icon_evil.gif LOL

Hey, where we are there is an apartment right on the water for 650. It's small, but nice. The ocean view is spectacular. Unfortunately, like my Bill you'd have to bus to the Richmond station and skytrain into Vancouver from there.

You make a profile and ask people on there if they have free space to stay at for a few days... www.couchsurfing.org

Mkae sure you put enough info that people get a good ifea of who you are.. you can read all their personal info as well...
