I love funny stuff like this. What's the story to this? Anyone know?
When I was in business college, we did case studies of cross cultural faux pas in marketing. One of the most amusing I remember was a big ad taken out in the newspaper by a Japanese tire manufacturer called Sumitomo.
They were launching a new tire line called "High Toughness" that could go so many tens of thousands of miles.
The ad ran with a picture of the tire and in big bold type just the letters
(Sumitomo High Toughness)
