Never been to Vegas and always wanted to go. Hotel and flights are super cheap right now and I have lots of vacation days accrued. I'm not much into the club or bar scene, but don't mind going. I was thinking about going to a couple of shows there and then just checking out the strip. What do you guys think? Anyone do something similar?

It's much more fun with friends. I'm not opposed to going and doing things by myself, but Vegas is really an experience you should share with friends (if for no other reason but to have someone to call when you don't know where you are in the morning).

But if you just kind of want to go just to see it, then why not?

I just spent 3 days there. There is so much to do, even if you dont like the bar/club scene. It was super hot when I was there but it is in the middle of a desert. If you want a more relaxed vacation and Vegas to not be so crowded id say wait until after 4th of July weekend, but if you want to go crazy, go then. Either way you're going to have fun. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm only a social drinker and if I don't know anyone around me, I won't drink, so I am not too worried about having an accountability buddy. I just hate going to places where folks view you as a social pariah for being alone. Are there a lot of solo travelers who go to Vegas?

I go to Vegas alone sometimes. It's always a great time. I have a friend who lives there and her and I go out. I've crossed paths with random old friends as well which is spontaneous fun...ala Facebook.

I like solo trips, but I highly recommend planning trips with friends because the memories you get from a Vegas weekend are funny years down the road.

For first time to Vegas, the Strip is overwhelming. It's giant. Some of these properties are remarkable and they just keep opening. Just seeing the Strip could take a full day and night. I think that would be more fun with friends than alone.

If you like to gamble, that's a bonus. I have a great time just playing blackjack all afternoon and making random connections at the tables. You meet people from everywhere.

Food options aplenty. Love eating in Vegas.

Shows, if I were to recommend 3 (though there are many more to see) - 'La Reve' is spectacular. 'Jersey Boys' was surprisingly great. I knew nothing about it and I want to see it again. And of course, you must see a Cirque show ('La Reve' is similar, but not a Cirque show). If you're into acrobatics, I'd see 'Mystere'. I used to like 'O' a lot, but overall show I think 'Mysere'. See 'Love' if you like the Beatles. See 'Zumanity' if you want to be more cabaret. Check out who's in town for concerts/shows when you go. I saw Tiesto at Hard Rock and it was so much fun.

Gay club Krave. I've been once. I had an absolute blast, but I was with my friend and we made great friends with one of the bartenders. Very memorable night, just a ton of fun.

Also, some of the resort spas are incredible. Always spoil yourself for at least one 90 minute massage. They have workout facilities, so you can keep your routine.

Shopping. Everything is $$$, but there are some great stores there, if even only to check out.

I was there last month and stayed at THEhotel. Loved it. Going back in October - and about 10 of my friends are on notice. I hope they go, but if I'm alone...still will be a great time. icon_smile.gif

GO!! I have always met a few people when I go. I go to one of the Cirque de Soliel shows every time I go. I met people there and usually meet for dinner or lunch the next day. It is a great place to just say what the hell and meet new people.

    Do it!

There's nothing wrong with going alone. You get to see and do what you want when you want. And in the process prob meet some nice people to chill with.

I travel solo almost all the time and love it.

I've been to Vegas a few times to run marathons. Admittedly, I felt like a total loner for the first time in my travels. I usually met people along the way travelling but not here. It seems like a place to visit with friends unless I want to hookup with the women plastered on business cards rammed into my face.

Contrived, fun to walk the strip, but there are many better sites to see in the surrounding areas.

I usually travel solo, depending on my destination, but Vegas is one of those places where I think it would be best to go with friends. They may have an Eiffel Tower, but it isn't like Vegas is going to offer you quiet moments sipping coffee in a cafe and pondering the master works in the Louvre. Vegas is about fun and letting loose on a different level.

2 of the best vacation in my life I went solo...and I had a blast. There is something to be said for having the freedom on vacation to go when and where you want. It's an adventure that you can't really have when you're with friends.

it's still fun if you come to vegas solo. when are you coming to vegas?
vegas has been non-gambler friendly lately because we have a lot of shows, music fests(EDC just happened last weekend) or evne just walking around on the strip is a lot of fun.

and cirque du soleil shows are just well known, you may want to check those out. and you can prob find some good deals online or on the strip tricket sellers.

and freemont street is just fun to walk around as well.

it's kinda hot here right now, but you can basically stay inside of the building so that wont really bother you.. but it's just all about what you want... gameble, relaxing at the pools, shopping, shows... or clubs..

4th of july is coming soon as well so if you come here very soon it will be a lot of fun.

I'm sure you will have fun even if you come here. you can ask me questions thru e-mail or on here. icon_biggrin.gif

If you're going to go alone, this is a good option! Search for guys on here from LV and meet up for a drink and chat. Don't have to hit the 'chapel' with them, just find some guys who might want to say hi and have a nice evening. New friends can be fun.

I go to Vegas with my friends quite often, but had the best time when I went solo last month. It's nice to be able to set my own schedule, and actually take time to enjoy doing things I like. Moreover, I find it easier to to interact with new people when traveling alone.

What hotels are you looking into?

Very true however.....sometimes friends can be ( unintentional) fun-blockers, because you start to worry about what they will think and all....icon_wink.gif
