Ive been waiting to hear back from a job I have been interviewing for and I looked back on the job board and they re-posted it on Satuday. Im sure it means nothing. Its a total loss position with an insurance company. My last job was doing multi-state total loss claims......Im totally qualified......

Im gonna go eat my feelings.

    FUCK.

Exactly. You never know...they may have a 2nd position come open with the same job duties.
That's VERY common at my job, since the company is expanding.

Yeah, and it may also be some weird internal rule about having to post multiple times. I know school districts have all sorts of weird rules/mandates about how they do job postings. Even when they know who they want, they have to (re)post it sometimes.

I've applied for a number of positions (especially with the US government) for which I was either qualified or over-qualified. I applied.... and applied.... and applied. Yet, these lunatics repost the job announces over and over. Eventually, I just quit applying for these specific jobs... and yes... they still repost them. If I didn't know better, I'd say someone has a serious case of OCD

I'm hating my job a lot these days. But there isn't anything better out there right now.
Actually, I'm hating my whole field.

........and as someone who has been the the position of interviewing and hiring people, I can tell you that it got my attention when an applicant was politely persistent and really "asked" for the job. It showed me that he really was interested in the opening, and maybe I misjudged him the first go-round. Approach them again - and show them the earnest determination that I'm reading in your note here. You just might impress them! Good luck!

Yeah. Call and call or get a hold of them by some means. I had a job where my friend was trying to get hired on. He called the HR person like 3 times a day. She got to know him real quick. But he was hired on. His persistence paid off.

It was FUCKING priceless when he put in his notice.

My partner works for an insurance company right here in Florida that I believe it hiring. It's in Lake Mary outside of Orlando. Interested? PM me. I'll see what I can find out.

    Peace,

I called the manager that interviewed me and spoke to him. He told me that the company isnt letting him move as fast as HE wants to. I can only assume because its the end of the 2nd quarter? I have no clue, but He didnt tell me I am not getting the job.....Just that he hasnt been able to fill it yet. I basically asked for it. haha.

Been on both sides of that.

In government or GOCO situations, we've had the whole short-list of candidates vetoed from "on high" after we spent a bunch of money flying them in for interviews. Several times accompanied by the message (never in writing) "That position is reserved for a black woman or a native american." But... none of them applied... "Well keep advertising until one of them does."

I dont think this is my issue. I spoke to the guy today and he said the parent company wasnt letting him move forward as fast as HE wants to.

I think its just because this is the end of the 2nd quarter and they may have to wait.

As far as eating your feelings, just make sure they're tasty. I like chicken in a biskit.

And yet today was quite the opposite... I mean, I still kind of hate my job, but the day was not as bad as yesterday.

theantijock saidExcellent. A snail-mailed short letter acknowledging your phone conversation and showing appreciation for updating you about the job would not be inappropriate.

    This.

That said, if I don't start hearing about some of these positions I've applied for, then I may bury myself in some bibimbap....

Yep. I remember my favorite thing to say to someone was "sir, your car was a rolling total loss"
