..... here are a few more gaffes to laugh at. You could argue a few as just slips of the tongue, but not the Austrian language or the 57 states:

Like dude I like totally wanna go to Pride in Toronto, but I'm freaked caus I don't speak a word of Canadian. I heard some can speak Amurican but only if their in the mood. Heard from a buddy who went to Vancouver that like if you don't speak their language, they are not too friendly. He was their celebrating the Stanlee Cup telling em how good the Bruins are, and they weren't friendly at all. So like does anyone have a good book of 20 phrases in Canadian. That shud be enough to like talk to them, eh? I probly don't speak more than 20 phrases in Amurican, so I'd be like bilingual. Imagine that!!!!!!! Also planning to visit Sidnee in Assieland, but I'm like totally in the same boat. I don't speak Assie, and caus their so far away, they probly don't speak Amurican. Can't wait to see the water swirl the wrong way in the toilet bowl. Crazy place, like they totally drive on the wrong side of the road and there cars have the steering wheel where the passenger is supposed to sit. What a crazy world.

That you try and justify that sorry excuse of a human being Bachmann's stupidity, by posting some screw ups from Obama...is what is the most sad.

I don't know why I'm bothering but I get tired or hearing this "Obama and the 57 states thing"

If you look into it a little you find out it was at stop in Beaverton, Oregon in 2008 after a lengthy campaign.

"...He was trying to express the thought that in all the time he has spent on the campaign trail so far in 2007-08, he had visited all (forty-eight) of the states in the continental U.S. save for one (i.e., 'one left to go,' excluding Alaska and Hawaii), but in his weariness he slipped us and started off with 'fifty' instead of 'forty.' (Note the long pause in the video clip between the words 'fifty' and 'seven.')..."

Here's what I don't get our conservative brethren on here.

Michelle Bachmann HATES YOU. She would pass a Constitutional amendment to reverse marriage equality in six states where we have it.

I can understand having a conservative view of economics but I cannot understand defending someone who has avowedly positioned themselves as against you.

I with you Christian73...There seems to be some strange automatic rabid defense of everyone who is a Republican or Conservative no matter what. And then usually some deflection to Obama or some other Democrat. I voted for Obama and probably will again but I don't have any blind allegiance to him but i will give him the benefit of the doubt until he does something that is way out of line (in my opinion at least)

Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Libertarian (or somewhere in between) you have to admit Michelle Bachmann is a bit crazy. Lest we forget her census outrage...

Anybody notice the same tactic here? Confront Bachmann with her mistakes, she mentions Obama's faults. Present her with a factually wrong statement made by her, she mentions Obama again. icon_lol.gif

Am I saying Obama is perfect? No. At the moment, I happen not to be questioning Obama's gaffes made during jokes, but Bachmann's consistent falsehoods which she defends even when proven wrong.

Two wrongs doesn't make a right.

BTW Austrian German is a real dialect only spoken in Austria and the Tyrol, with grammatical and vocabulary differences with standard German. Viennese is the typical dialect used for impersonating an Austrian. Nowhere did Obama say Austrian is a language.

catfish5 - I will bet you that I and many of the others on RJ who support conservative economic positions have a much better self-image than do you. Your little tantrums have been noted, and if anyone is self loathing, you would probably fit that description best.

Christian73 - From my perspective, it's not really a defense of Bachmann, it is to expose the continual hypocrisy that I see from the left. It is my opinion and that of others that the media often overlooks either gaffes, past associations, etc. of Obama, but when it comes to a conservative, especially a conservative woman, the fangs come out with a vengeance. Some media outlets sent teams of investigators to Alaska to dig up dirt on Palin. They even tried to get her gynecological records. In the case of Bachmann, if you want a serious discussion, you would focus on the issues, not making a big deal about misstating a town in Iowa where John Wayne was born.

Nice try at a spin. I speak German and am familiar with the various dialects both within Germany and outside Germany. In Switzerland, German is spoken, sometimes referred to as Swiss German. Would anyone knowledgable say "I don't understand Swiss?" In Austria, German is spoken, sometimes referred to as Austrian German, but I think most often just as German. No one knowledgable would say "I don't understand Austrian." What Obama said is on the video.

Wrong. You obviously have wrapped your ego around your political affiliation and feel the need to "one up" anyone you perceived has slighted you with braggadocio. Sad, but alot of gay men suffer from it to a degree. Hides the fact the you feel personally inadequate. Your insecurity identifying as a gay male has been duly noted.

    Nope.
DELUSIONAL is the word of the day.
And if you think that that the minor Obama misspeaks that you posted are equivalent to the ignorant false and hugely embarrassing things that keep falling out of Bachmann's mouth - YOU are delusional.
And if you think Bachmann is a strong candidate for you Repubs - LOL - you're REALLY delusional.

Another "one up" type post from socal. Not surprising. Typical of self loathers. Diverting attention from his own inadequacy by attacking others. More evidence that my characterization of him is correct. Sad.

Maybe he was referring to this icon_smile.gif :

wikipediaFor many years, Austria had a special form of the language for official government documents. This form is known as: "Österreichische Kanzleisprache" or "Austrian chancellery language" in English. It is a very traditional form of the language, probably derived from Middle Ages Deeds documents, and has a very complicated structure and vocabulary which is generally reserved only for such documents. For most speakers (even native speakers), this form of the language is generally difficult to understand, as it contains many highly specialised terms for diplomatic, internal, official, and military matters. There are no regional variations, because this special written form has mainly been used by a government that has now for centuries been based in Vienna. "Österreichische Kanzleisprache" is now used less and less, thanks to various administrative reforms which have led to there being fewer of the classic civil servants, the Beamter. As a result, Standard German is replacing it in government and administrative texts.

BTW, even all the dialects of French don't have what Austrian German has:
wikipediaWhen Austria became a member of the European Union, the Austrian variety of the German language — limited to 23 agricultural terms — was “protected” in Protocol No 10, regarding the use of specific Austrian terms of the German language in the framework of the European Union, which forms part of the Austrian EU accession treaty.[1] Austrian German is the only variety of a pluricentric language recognized under international law / EU primary law. All facts concerning “Protocol no. 10” are documented in Markhardt, Heidemarie: “Das österreichische Deutsch im Rahmen der EU,” Peter Lang, 2005.

The thing about Bachmann's gaffes is that we are discussing her recent ones. The conservatives have to keep bringing up the same old ones.

Yes, a German could very well say, "I don't understand Swiss German." Are you sure you know Swiss German?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_GermanSwiss German (German: Schweizerdeutsch, Alemannic German: Schwyzerdütsch, Schwiizertüütsch, Schwizertitsch) is any of the Alemannic dialects spoken in Switzerland and in some Alpine communities in Northern Italy.
    ...
Linguistically, Swiss German forms no unity. The linguistic division of Alemannic is rather into Low, High and Highest Alemannic, varieties of all of which are spoken both inside and outside of Switzerland.
    ...
The dialects of Swiss German must not be confused with Swiss Standard German, the variety of Standard German used in Switzerland.
    ...
Swiss German is intelligible to speakers of other Alemannic dialects but poses greater difficulty in total comprehension to speakers of Standard German, including French- or Italian-speaking Swiss who learn Standard German at school. Swiss German speakers on TV or in movies are thus usually dubbed or subtitled if shown in Germany.

Be that as it may, supports the point that the media and loyal followers have a double standard.
