    Rudeness!

I'll be in London but not for any of the Pride stuff. You should definitely go though, all you need to do is show up along the parade route and watch the parade and then go to one of the club events in the evening!

Soho Pride is better than London Pride if that is still going on. Usually later in the summer too

I've heard Clapham's street party is usually a good laugh and generally better than the main event. A few of my friends are going to Summer Rites, which is a big clubby festival. I'm sure you'll have a good time :-)

will prob do the parade and Trafalgar Square after. Can imagine Soho will be nightmare busy in the evening so not currently intending to hang around for that.

There's stalls and stuff and a stage most of the day, I'm not sure where the parade route is or time for that but you should be able to catch it. It's worth seeing if you've not experienced it before - my favourite (apart from the scantily-clad muscle hunks obviously) is the bus full of gay pensioners! They love it!

Nah, my friends said it was the biggest load of shit ever, nothing more than a drunk-fest for pretentious naked hip snobs and multiple sounds systems playing dance crap so loud your ears bled.

    Same as usual then.

I don't know why London doesn't seem to be able to get it right. I see photos and video from other Pride events, e.g. Madrid, NY, Sydney and it just looks SO much better. You'd think London could put on a decent event.

Trust me, the Sydney event isn't as good as you've been led to believe... and the television coverage is even worse... you don't come to Sydney for the parade... you come for the 3 weeks of celebrations which culminate (after the parade) with the party!

I don't think the people in charge care about keeping Pride to it's true nature, my friends said there were so many drunks, over the top dress sense, guys wearing nothing more than sandles and 4 different sounds systems from 4 different clubs all playing over each other.

Sex sells, it's not a pride it sounds more like an event put on by business in the summer to make a little more money than they would on a regular weekend. Public decadance on show, assigned to gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals, and we wonder why we looked upon so negatively.

I maybe a massive and inaccurate overgeneralisation, but that's just what I think.

    Rant over.
