Okay, so a dream I've always had was to have a successful website. Not you know... Like Ebay, but something people would actually come to, something personal. And I always wanted my own blog, however... I want something different. Nowadays gay culture is pretty much just porn on sites. Queerclick for example. So I want a blog slash gay culure orientated site with pop culture influence. Like Perez Hilton kinda thing. Now personally, I visit PerezHilton and Queerclcik around 4-5 times a day. However I don't know why... Is it because I like it? Well, I actually hate Perez Hilton, but after so long and his influence, it's just a habit. I like Queerclick, but I feel like their site is very dated. Looks like a feeding ground for cum dumpsters. So I want to make something new, fresh, has clear direction and isn't directly strong on sex. More just of an update n stuff for porn here and there. I unno, I want to appeal for everyone in gay culture. So any feedback would be helpful. Atm I've got a very A&F layout happening which I'm happy with. It'll be more of a personal blog of my daily life in gay culure and stuff, but yeah. Also do you guys like to comment on your sites? Take polls? Tell me.

Most of the 'gay' blog sites that I visit are porn-related, I used to really like one called Gay Wired but it went under :-(

I think if you can hit on the right mix of gay news, current affairs etc plus pop culture, and a bit of eye candy, you could have a great site because I think there's a gap in the market for it.

Exactley! Like, I want something like PerezHilton and QueerClick had a love child. But all the bad genetics like talking about children with useless talent and ugly layout bred out. I want something pretty, open and more "Gay" culture orientated. Gotta figure out marketing. Can you make money from this?

I think Towleroad does that pretty well:

I also live in Australia, so American politics and events like Gay Marriage which I'm appealing to would be hard to cover.

If porn blogs are the most popular type of blog, then a non-porn blog won't be as popular, no matter what you type about.

People don't want to read. They want to fap. icon_wink.gif

I wanna make my news easy to cover. For instance, when something happens ill go on perezhilton and have to go look through like 10 pages before I get to something I've heard of. In that instance, Queerclick is easier, as it covers all news in boxes side by side, if the caption interests you. You look at it. Simple. I wanna incorporate both these things.

It's not a"porn blog" It's a gay culture blog. Think of Perezhilton but more orientated to the every day gay man.

Both JoeMyGod and Towleroad have been blogging for nearly 10 years. And they both started out as personal journals that evolved into news/culture blogs. It took many, many years of daily blogging before either of them started to develop a sizable audience. I believe Andy was not working elsewhere and was able to commit to Towleroad full-time, and Joe's job enables him to blog while working.

What you describe takes an enormous time commitment and several years of growth. Good luck... but this is not something that happens overnight.

Have you ever heard of hiddencamthatcharlitosdoesntknowabout.com?

It's a paysite, but I don't think you will mind.

The gay blogs I have visited were not porn but more advice. I am on the stages of coming out so advice about coming out, meeting other gay people, etc. are always appreciated. icon_razz.gif

I don't visit them often but usually if the guy has a lot of posts I'll go through them for a read if the title interests me. icon_wink.gif

The site's content more than makes up for the appearance (which I think is simply hamstrung by blogspot). That plus the care he takes in moderating comments. If it were just one thing, I'd say probably taking his many blog tags and having a place upfront to quickllink to them.

Hmmmm, but it's not what I want. Even remotely. Mine would more be about pop culture like music n stuff with a note on the big gay events n stuff.

hmmmm, maybe this is a bad idea. Especially because I'll be doing all my own advertisment. Where as his is hosted by blogspot. Thought it would be easier... But I didn't exactley know how to get many youtube subscribers either.
