Will the party of no compromise with Dems over debt debate or continue to play political games?

"Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, accused Republicans of wanting the country 'to be in as bad shape as possible because that might help them electorally.'"

Anyone who advocates increasing the debt limit without proportionately making cuts is to blame for whatever ensues.

Any anyone who takes tax increases off the table is also to blame.

Tax increases that will directly go against the debt?

Furthermore, increasing taxes really has no immediate consequence on the debt ceiling.

Actually, raising taxes would lessen the deficit and lower the amount by which the debt ceiling needs to be raised.

By throwing the country into default you will be triggering ANOTHER republican caused recession

You DO know that don't you?

You will not be able to cut the deficit sufficientlyby cuts alone
That is an impossibility .... End of story
If there are to be cuts there also needs to be revenue increases
You can wish it until you're blue in the face but it ain't gonna happen

Nope. You're living in a world of delusion and the complete lack of argumentative soundness you bring to the table is as tragic as it is palpable.

This is so political. What could be so hard about balancing the budget when everyone knows that government must increase revenue or decrease spending or a combination of both. I really doubt that is the crisis that everyone, especially on the right, is touting it to be.

Yes, the democrats want to increase the debt ceiling without making proportional cuts. Please inform yourself before responding, because not doing so does you a disfavor.

YOU ARE EITHER DELIBERATELY IGNORANT OF THE FACTS OR UNINTENTIONALLY IGNORANT OF THE FACTS.

The only way for the National Debt to be significanly reduced is:
1.) through a combination of spending cuts and increased revenue (as in higher taxes on the rich as proposed by the Democrats),
    or
2.) through a combination of spending cuts and destroying Medicare and/or Social Security (as proposed by the Republicans).

Only ignorant dolts don't know that merely making spending cuts - without either raising revenues or dismantling Medicare and/or Social Security - will NOT significatly reduce our National Debt.
    THE NUMBERS DON'T ADD UP.

BTEW - we can thank the last four REPUBLICAN presidents for blowing up the National Debt.

The last four Repub presidents increased the National Debt (BIG TIME), while the last five Democratic presidents REDUCED the National Debt.

    Mock,
    Similar points discussed here:
    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1655177
Clearly a desperation, Hail Mary attempt. They see the economic figures and projections, along with the poll numbers. There's not much point discussing with some of the people here. Aside from some quick points or jabs here and there, pretty much not worth wasting time. We do have other sites where more productive discussions can occur.
