Summer 2012: Would you rather spend it in Paris or Berlin?

Okay here's the situation everyone. I've got two internship options for summer of next year. I can either spend it in Berlin, or Paris. I've googled on the subject but all that comes up is some song called "From Paris to Berlin" or something like that.

For those of you that have been to both, which city do you prefer? In France I feel like I'd have more options to travel. Could go to Spain, UK, etc whenever I'm off. But the food, etc is more expensive.

In Berlin I heard its the gayest city in London, and has a younger more alternative crowd. That sounds good but its kind of far off from everything, so I can't really visit too many places.

I really don't know which one to choose icon_sad.gif I know this is more travel related but I'm actually going to live there for 3 months so I need to know which city I'm going to have more fun in, learn more in and have and epic experience.

Is Paris a good city for the gays? I want to meet a lot of new people, which city is the friendliest?

Also which city has the hottest guys? This is very important lol.

To sum it up: Which would you choose if you had the choice?

OH also, if I choose a job in either city, I'd have to learn the basics of either language. Which one do you think is easier to learn?

Been to Paris. Its a city which I lasted at most a week in and felt the need to move on. Spent very close to a month in Montpellier with my family back in the day as my sister was settling in to start her french language school.I found the outer cities to be much more attractive. Less busy, congestive and dirty.

Berlin is amazing. Some of the most friendliest people. Very open and welcoming. Like you heard it is very much a younger city crowd. I have yet to meet anyone who has had a negative experience there.

    Therefore, I would choose Berlin.

Any of the major western European cities you can find easy access to almost all other european countries, as airfare I found was very cheap.

Personally I am looking forward to 2012 summer in Berlin. I have been wanting to go for a while but always end up in Switzerland, Austria and Hungary. If you're going to spend 3 months I would say with out a doubt whichever city yo go to it will be whatever you make of it. Bother cities have so much to offer. I have a fascination with Germanic countries and so that's where I'l be heading. On the other hand if you're French and you speak to me I will melt in a second. I wold love to visit Paris but Berlin would be the place for me. Let me know how you go.

Hm yeah the things I've heard about Paris is that its really dirty, etc. I've been to other places in France, just never Paris. I'm sort of leaning towards Berlin at this point. I feel like it would be the less obvious choice. Do you have any opinion on people in Paris in general? (If they're friendlyish, etc.)

    Are Berlin guys hot?

I'd say Berlin but that's only because I'm all German. icon_smile.gif I've never been to either country before.

As for the language barrier... I've taken both German and French and I thought French was easier.

Guys in Western, Eastern and Central Europe vary greatly. Form your own opinion as to which you feel is hotter..... but they are don't all look like the models and pron stars. Personally I think European guys are incredibly sexy!

Guys in Germany and France are the same... They are European guys.

Untrue, especially the French and the Germans are quite different. The French are distinctively more southern while the Germans are more typical northerners.

thingsthativedone saidTo sum it up: Which would you choose if you had the choice?

I lived in Berlin for 2 years, so for myself I'd prefer the change of spending more time in Paris. Also, you don't say when in summer. Berlin's summer (when it has one) is very short, with mid-July to mid-August usually being the best. Of course, global warming is changing that, harder to predict now.

Berlin has a very active gay leather scene, and lots of sexual kink, plus Nordic men can be hot-looking. But French men are sensual in a different way, a little softer with a twink look, yet also a bit superior & aloof. Depends on what you like.

Paris definitely has the scenery down, and lots of culture. Berlin was largely rebuilt after WWII, and has what I consider a rather appalling tendency to erect bad (and quickly outdated) modern architecture. And the former Communist eastern half of the city still needs work. Both have good public transportation, but German drivers are much better than the French, if you plan to drive a car yourself. The Berliners really obey the rules, whereas the French are... well... French.

The men in both cities are beautiful if you ask me,, but you did mention friendly in your OP,,, so I'll have to direct you to Berlin.
If it's food and atmosphere you're after, Paris is my pick. Friendly, hot men.. serve me up a hot blond German and let's go heavy on the wiener schnitzel ; ) ... cause Das ist gut!
That said,,, the french are awfully sexy!

i've never been to either, but i would definitely pick Paris .
But then i might be biased .
not that i don't love german culture, fuck, i'm a musician.
But Paris remains one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And when i hear people talk about a city being dirty, i just laugh .
And Paris is just a TGV ride away from various parts of France : Normandy, Provence etc. so it's easy to go for a weekend trip .

Paris. Germans were voted the most humour-less culture in the world.

You'll also have Disneyland Paris nearby!

French is one of the most used languages in the world, believe it or not.

Oh wait...I suppose German is too.

    Good luck with that decision.

    Peace,
    Bardy

I've only been to Paris and it was pretty good. I've heard good things about both cities, but more people trash talk Paris than they do Berlin. However, like I said- I enjoyed my visit to Paris.
