OPThere are a few qualifiers that come in to play on this issue. Americans will always support tax increases as long as they are on someone else. Since the vast majority of Americans aren’t millionaires, it isn’t a big surprise that so many citizens favor additional taxes on them. Secondly, the American people are realistic. They tend to support a mixture of spending cuts and tax increases. This is a matter of common sense to most people. If you are in debt, you aren’t going to get out of debt by only spending less. At some point, you have to earn more money in order to pay your bills.

Pfft, as if Boehner is going to quote the "American people."icon_lol.gif

Yep - that's the politics of "other" and until they realize that they're the ones who will be taxed more. There is a line on every tax return that allows you to pay more than you are required to. How much have you (or others who support higher taxes) contributed?

I note further that there is no poll out there that shows that Americans believe they are getting value for taxpayer dollars spent. In fact, quite the opposite - they believe that there should be substantial cuts to government spending. Which brings us back to the point - if you believe in greater taxes - why not lead the way? How much more than required have you contributed in taxes?

I say hike the shit up to 50% and give use some real universal health and social care like other sensible countries icon_smile.gif

What good is forcing us to have insurance if we're still going to be paying thousands for prescription medications and care we can't afford.

This is yet another issue on which the Repub party is out of step with the majority nof Americans.
The Repubs ARE NOT RESPECTING THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

The only segment of U.S. society that the Repubs listen to and give a shit about, is the richest 1-2% and corporate America.

How much more have you contributed to bringing down the deficit above your required tax payments?

How much have you, seeing as how you're asking others in a country you don't even live in? Canada has a debt and deficit as well.

I've paid US taxes previously as a resident and non-resident. What was the point again you were trying to make about SB?

Canada does have a debt and deficit as well. I also think that Canada spends far more than it should. Canadian tax returns also have a line item that allow you to contribute more than you need to. How much have you contributed? I haven't contributed a dime more than what I've needed to - because I think that they already tax more than is necessary and spending can be reigned in.

    Nice try.
But attempting to deflect from the subject by trying to make it about me, won't work.

The FACT remains that the Repubs ARE defying the will of the people - AS THE POLLS PROVE.

Yes. And apparently goes to school full-time as well. Just another example that puts the lie to all of SB right-wing nonsense. icon_rolleyes.gif
