you will hate Pierce afterwards! I DID!!!
Thanks for all the positive responses! I think the heels are what set him apart from say- a gymnast. It's a complete gender mind fuck! We've all seen women do pole dancing in heels and so what?? It gets boring. But when a guy wears it, people get irritated! why is that? Why is it such a big deal? Those are just heels! How are they different from sneakers? My interpretation is heels represent sexuality-an overt one. Women wear them to make themselves sexier, to have long slender legs. We are not used to seeing a guy overtly expressive in his sexuality. All we see for the definition of a man are a bunch of male models in speedos, just standing in front of the camera with come to bed eyes! We are used to THAT image!
He's not trying to be a woman, he doesn't want to be a woman. But we are not used to seeing a guy owning his sexuality in that way. We are more conventional in our way of seeing things black and white. Men are supposed to act a certain way, musculine, and women are supposed to be feminine.
Personally, I gave him props for doing this because this shows that men can be just as sexy and talented on a pole, wearing heels just as women can be. Heels are what make his act more interesting. If we, even as gay guys, can digest that image, broadening our definition of musculinity and femininity, then the bigger heterosexuals can start to accept us. In this way, we are one step closer to more equality and tolerance!
