OK I´ve had the V for a while, but have started to notice that in certain lights I can see the washboard at the top of my stomach, but not the bottom

Is this the normal order for them to come or is there no order?

Yeah I think this is common. I can see my upper abs forming, but my lower abs have a ways to go. Of course after all the beer I drank yesterday for the 4th, I'm so bloated I can't see any abs this morning anyway.

yes that´s the normal order...upper then lower? I just never had them when i was young (was skinny fat nerd) and it´s kinda fun that I´m getting them when most people lose them icon_smile.gif

The only muscles that seem to get better on me are my abs. If you have a great V, start pumping out mixed power-sets on those abs! Work the obliques, and the abs hard and use lots of different angles. Good luck ! It is so worth it !

standard advice is that crunches and its variations target the upper abs, while leg lifts and its variations hit the lower. Fewer guys seem to do those kind of moves, maybe that's partly why lower abs seem harder to develop. I'm a big fan of hanging leg raises. Work up to keeping your knees unbent and lifting high as possible....hold at top for 1- 2 secs before descending under control. No swinging -- counterproductive!

it differs from person to person. i know of at least one person who has quite prominent lower abs, but almost invisible upper abs. with me, i find the middle more difficult than the lower, though the upper come out fine. though i suppose the most common way is upper abs first.

Depends on the person really, I can get a 6 pack easily without even trying. The first time it happened was when I had a week off from the gym and I wasn't paying attention to how I was eating, I under ate and poof 6 pack hahaha

Now that I'm eating like a pig again I got ma lil tummy back hehe icon_smile.gif

well I got a long way to go before abs and I just started exercising more , I gotta get rid of my nasty love handles...

Not sure what is fat and what is loose skin, I assume I have both...I lost 100 lbs so I guess I should be thankful I don't look that fat anymore...still feel like crap...icon_rolleyes.gif

Memphis Minnie's Texas Big Beef Ribs are the answer.
Try a whole rack with a side of greens and a "Fried Pie".

For me the issue is not the muscular definition (which is all there) but getting a low enough body fat percentage for them to show... ANyway they are not visible to the untrained eye at the moment... I just keep seeing them in the mirror when the light falls from above.

    Try this:

Stand in front of the mirror with the magic lighting.
Pull your scapula (shoulder blades) into your body and down towards your butt.
Tense your abs and try to pull your ribs towards your hips.
Tense your lower back so your pelvis tilts a bit forward. Brace with your abs.

Should help you with the OMGZ HAI ABS!1!!

Incidentally if you also tense your diaphragm and pelvic floor you have now set your core and are ready to lift!

One of the very best lower ab exercises there is are "Flutter Kicks". Guaranteed to work if you add them to your ab workouts.
