Bulking & yoga

So I'm going through a bulk phase and within that bulk phase, I'm doing a strength phase between two hypertrophy phases.

I'm currently on the strength phase where I do one workout day and two rest days between workout days. Workouts are two complex lifts with maximal strength focus - high intensity, low volume.

I'm thinking of adding yoga in my recovery days mainly as something to do to fill the gaps (with that amount of time between workouts, I get anxious to go to the gym) also to help maintain and improve my flexibility and balance.

My question now is more on the nutritional aspect of it: how I should eat with respect to yoga. I've been advised not to eat two hours prior to attending yoga.

So the question is what should I eat and what should my meal timing be to accommodate yoga?

I can't find a calorie expenditure number to put in for yoga so that throws a kink in the calculation somewhere.

I apologize if I made working out sound nerdy - it is my major after all.

You should never do yoga on an empty stomach. You'll get dizzy and exhausted within minutes. Do NOT have a large meal directly before class but DO have a snack maybe 30 minutes before that will keep you energized.

As far as calorie expenditure is concerned, its impossible to even guess without knowing what type of yoga you do.

If you have any further questions. Feel free to send a message.

I find I have to eat a light meal an hour before and
Protein meal directly after. I am doing vinyasa yoga and it is a bit more demanding then some other types of yoga actually it's more of a workout then my typical workout.

A lite complex carb would be good before, like stated above, between a halfhour to hour before, and get a good protein in right after.
