    And the winners are...

    #8-American Airlines
    #7-United Airlines
    #6-US Airways
    #2-Delta

Honestly, I've never had a truly horrible experience while flying, knock on wood! I'm a rather experienced and seasoned traveler so I know what to expect and how to expect it. When I fly Economy, I know what to expect, which is not five-star service and gourmet dining. The occasional time I fly Business, I know to expect great service and pretty good dining depending on who I'm flying.

I know that there are people, and I'm one of them, who say that US carriers can learn something from carriers like Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airlines, ANA, and Thai Airways International. But, these airlines serve countries with much smaller populations and much more strict quality and customer service standards. Singapore Airlines, to my knowledge, has a policy of only hiring the prettiest and cutest flight attendants and not letting them work past a certain age.

Then again, it could be a lot worse. If you don't believe me, try flying on Aerolinas Argentinas, Iberia, or TAM!

BTW-Other winners include Bank of America, Long Island Power Authority, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and Facebook.

Very true. I've always found my flights on American to be enjoyable and rather fuss free. It seems to me, sometimes, that those who complain the most are expecting an experience akin to the kind found on Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines.

The days of domestic 747 service with on-board smoking and lounges is long gone!

Sir, that will be $10.00 plus a $10.00 convenience fee plus a $5.00 trash fee. Enjoy your flight!

Ah yes, Pepco is listed at #1, it's beyond true.

We lost power once... for a week, at my father's house. No storm, no wind, no abnormal weather. That entire week was clear skies. And it took them 8 DAYS to restore power.

The entire city of College Park, where I live, lost power for two days because of a power outage during a snow *FLURRY*. They are beyond horrible.

Most of the companies on the list are companies like banks, utilities, cable/satellite television (5 of those on the list), and some of the others are companies that we usually deal with over the phone when we need customer service. Over the phone, I think people tend to be a little more terse and have less patience with customers than they do in a brick and mortar retail store or other situations where you deal with people face to face. What surprises me is to see Facebook and myspace on the list. Just don't use them if you don't like them. They didn't charge you for their services, so you're not really out anything if you didn't get what you were seeking from those companies.

My fuss with airlines is usually their reward point system and their restricted hidden rules about redeeming them "ohhh you can only book a flight with your points if it's a roundtrip..until August...THEN you can book with your points for one way only." Other than that, there's PLENTY of other companies I hate more than airline companies. And usually with airline companies I just hate the people I'm sitting next to the most.

Yeah I totally miss blowing cigarette smoke into babies' faces. It was so liberating back then to decide who I want to give lung and throat cancer to.

Well... Continental didn't go that route. But now they are merging with United, and changing their name to United, and moving to Chicago. WHYYY?!?!?!? Makes no sense, non.

All I know is that my damn Gold membership status with Continental better be there when they finish this stupid and pointless merger...I really like being able to skip the line at the airport...

Continental did go that route, a while back. My dad loyally flew with them, garnered so many points. Then one day they stopped flying, threw away his points, and then started back up again at some other time. I don't know the specifics. But I know they sucked at one point. Back in the dayyyyyy.

Never had a problem with Continental or redeeming pts for free flights. Continental World Credit Card w concierge service is the best. It's not the easiest card to get- you need excellent credit. Next to flying it's one of the fastest ways to rack up frequent flyer points and well worth the measly 65.00 annual fee.

Hope it stays that way with the Untited merger.
