    Okay.... GO!!!

I want to go to the Eagle, but I cant go to Beer Bust, which is right up my alley. I will have to go on Saturday night.

I love to dance. I love hot guys without shirts. I hate wearing shirts.

    Any other suggestions?

I've only been to Splash and the Music Box. Splash was pretty much like a gay club in any town but a little nicer then the ones in small towns. The Music box had an... interesting show but I had a great time. I intend on returning in the future.

The Eagle can be fun, I'm thinking of maybe popping by there Friday night. hopefully I won't lose my shirt (literally) there again... icon_razz.gif

But one need not look very far to see various stages of near- and full-on nekkidness, to say nothing of the occasional mouths and even asses "accidentally" falling onto people's junk randomly in the darker corners of th establishment, particularly on the roof deck after dark.

Splash is like Vaughn said, your every day typical garden variety gay dance bar. Two levels, and with bulky muscle boy go-go dancers.

Barracuda used to be one of my favourites back when I was a more frequent clubber/bar-hopper.

Rawhide is somewhat less in the vein of the Eagle, though I might just have been there on an off night.

The Gym Sportsbar is very much my speed, a sports bar full of men who like sports and other men. The times I've been there the clientele is in street clothing; I don't recall seeing any shirtlessness there, though later on during weekend nights that could change.

My favorite - the COCK in Alphabet City! East Village.

The red neon red rooster above the entrance welcomes you to one of the East Village's (and indeed Manhattan's) bawdiest bistros, where cruising is heavy and public displays of great affection are not at all uncommon. It's one of the few neighborhood bars to charge a cover, but you get what you pay for: Its two floors of action include dirty dancing to eclectic DJs, go-go guys galore, and general post-midnight mayhem. The rooster's nightly event roster boasts the new Black Cock on Fridays, a union with Manhattan club legend Mr. Black.

Basically a dive bar with HOT HOT men!

    29 Second Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets, 212-777-6254

Take the F, V to Second Ave. or the 6 to Bleecker St.

Hmmmm. I like the sound of that.

And if you dig a smooth hookah, check out:

    Karma Bar & Hookah Lounge
    51 1st Avenue (Between 3rd & 4th Streets)
    New York, NY 10003
    East Village

I've never been to NYC. Does it have one of those rainbow flag covered major street you find in other cities where all the bars and stores are lined up??

    Well THAT depends on what you want to do. Beer Blast at the Eagle on Sunday afternoon is pretty cool. Cheap beer, hot guys and gets better as it gets darker.. hint hint icon_twisted.gif There are just way too many to name, but here are a few of my faves;

East Village: Phoenix, Eastern Bloc, and The Cock

West Village: The Monster, Hangar, Rockbar

Chelsea: Gym Bar, G lounge, The Eagle, X|ES

    Hell's Kitchen: Therapy, Industry

I prefer the dive bars over the prissy bitchy ones any day!

The NYC gay village has become a bit spread out over the past generation or so, and isn't as tightly clustered as the Castro or Church Street in Toronto north of Carlton, or Boystown in Chicago.

Primarily on 8th Avenue, south of 23rd Street until around 14th Street, though some LGBT businesses may cluster down in the West Village (south of Houston tracking along as Broadway/6th/7th/8th Ave converge into named avenues)

There are other clusters in Hell's Kitchen (8th-10th Ave in the 40's streets).

I suppose we can thank mayors Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg in and their developer friends in large measure for gentrification of these neighbourhoods that is pushing the gay buyers further north and even out of Manhattan proper.

    no love for brooklyn?

Metropolitan if you like a laid back atmosphere, lots of hipsters / alternative gays there.

Sugarland if you want to be in a place surrounded by tall twinks - semi muscular guys icon_razz.gif And I mean like scaring the fire Marshall crowded kind of place icon_razz.gif

Therapy is good, Industry is right across the street from it.

Monster is kind of quirky.. its part piano bar and dance floor w/ gogo boys on the lower level.

Might I also recommend my bed, MUAH

Your bed, huh? Do I need to make reservations? Is it dressy? Can I wear a harness with jeans or do I have to wear a harness with leather chaps?

Is there a cover? A drink minimum?

it depends on what your genre is...the type of men you want to associate with...look in NEXT magazine..they should have a list of the bars and the type of men they attract...

I mapped a bar crawl with my friend in the spring and we went to:

XES, Barracuda, Boxers, G Lounge, and Gym; in that order. XES was good to start at since it's not too big. My favorites were Boxers and Gym.

I was thinking of planning another one sometime in the summer sometime.

Splash. It might be generic, but speedos are fun to look at...and I got a lil action on the dancefloor. And it's the only gay bar I've been to in NYC.

I'm *thinking* he means that there is a markedly smaller number of LGBT bars in the East Village vs. the West Village or Chelsea, HK, etc.

@Adam228: I lurves me some things in Brooklyn... but I was lamenting the effects of gentrification on some of my old favourite haunts in Manhattan. icon_biggrin.gif
