I don't care who you vote for. It can be big bird, papa smurf and He-man.

We got to stand up and stop these people.

The pledge contains, among other things:

    – HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHOICE: The preface to the pledge reads, “Social protections…have been evaporating as we have collectively ‘debased the currency’ of marriage…in complete absence of empirical proof, that non-heterosexual inclination are genetically determined, irresistible and akin to innate traits like race, gender and eye color; as well as anti-scientific bias which holds, against all empirical evidence, that homosexual behavior in particular, and sexual promiscuity in general, optimizes individual or public health.” Footnote 8 reiterates this notion.

    – HOMOSEXUALITY IS LIKE POLYGAMY, ADULTERY, POLYANDRY: Vow 4 requires the candidate to pledge “Vigorous opposition to any redefinition of the Institution of Marriage…through statutory, bureaucratic, or court-imposed recognition of intimate unions which are bigamous, polygamous, polyandrous, same-sex.”

    – HOMOSEXUALITY IS A PUBLIC HEALTH RISK: Footnote 4 claims that homosexuality causes shorter life expectancy and a higher probability of a long list of sexually transmitted diseases. The Leader has previously compared same-sex marriage to second-hand smoking.

    – SEX IS BETTER AFTER MARRIAGE: Vow 5 requires the candidate to support the notion that “married people enjoy better health, better sex.”

    – PORNOGRAPHY SHOULD BE BANNED: Vow 9 stipulates that the candidate must “support human protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy” and protect them from “seduction into promiscuity and all forms of pornography…and other types of coercion or stolen innocence.”

She could be doing more to ensure the gay vote going to Obama again than any he would get by campaigning among gay groups and organizations. Just by signing this, she will keep it an issue during primary season and most likely make other candidates have to speak on the issue more than some of them would prefer since the same question will now be put to many of them. And before some come in here and say, 'Obama said he doesn't support gay marriage', what she signed goes way beyond that. She signed a pledge that works to take away a state being able to decide the gay marriage issue and she signed a pledge to continue to support DOMA, which means even a civil union or domestic partnership, even if recognized a state will not be recognized by the federal government.

I'm just concerned about the jobs she wants to cut from the porn industry. Not all industries are created equal. icon_lol.gif

Yay, gay porn is exempt from the pledge! icon_lol.gif

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/07/08/264511/family-leader-clarification/THE FAMiLY LEADER’s head Bob Vander Plaats has reacted to the growing controversy about his pledge by backing away from its plain meaning. Today, he claimed, “We are not calling for a nationwide band [sic] on pornography,” and that the pledge is really intended “to imply opposition to women being forced into pornography or prostitution.”

She must be a plant from the Democrats to ensure that Independents and Libertarian-minded voters swing for Obama.

    She's got to be.

There's just no other way or reason she'd be campaigning on a Moral Majority/Social Conservative stump from 1955 like this...

I want her to get the Republican nomination simply so that I can watch all the homocon heads explode as they try to defend her.

No head explosions on my part.

I'll simply down a whiskey and pull the lever for Obama if Bachmann gets the GOP nomination by some truly f'd up stroke of bad luck and voter stupidity.

I so much hope that she is the nominee. It will make it such an entertaining campaign season. Maybe I'll even have to cross over to the Republican primary just to vote for her.

The more I read about the Bachmanns... the more sick to my stomach I get.

I am not one to wish evil upon anyone, but DAMNNN.

These two, particularly "Dr." Marcus... come awful close: it is his kind of ideas about "reparative therapy" and "curing the gay" that do untold damage to people.

Bonus Points: Remembering that people like her are actually voted for.

Andrew Sullivan has a terrific post that demonstrates how much Marcus Bachmann sounds like Corky St. Clair, Christopher Guest's obviously-gay-but-closeted character in Waiting for Guffman.
Hmm... the fact that Bachmann is such a big fan of reparative "therapy" kinda makes you wonder what might be going on with him.

This is hilarious -- you should check it out.

If she gets the Republican nomination, Obama has a 99% of winning. In the event Obama does not win against Bachman, I will humiliate Bachman as much as I can, and furthermore campaign to throw her in jail for hate crimes.

I'm surprised this hasn't come out earlier, but somebody has finally done it:

I Received ‘Ex-Gay’ Therapy at Marcus Bachmann’s Clinic
Posted July 8th, 2011 by John M. Becker
http://www.truthwinsout.org/pressreleases/2011/07/17519/The organization I work for, Truth Wins Out (TWO), fights anti-LGBT religious extremism and the “ex-gay” myth. We’d been receiving questions about the Bachmann clinic and reparative therapy for months, and they only grew more intense after the June 13 GOP presidential debate in New Hampshire. Like everyone else, we were aware of the rumors and that no one had yet been able to independently verify them. TWO Executive Director Wayne Besen decided that we were going to obtain that verification: I was to go undercover to Bachmann & Associates in Lake Elmo, MN posing as someone seeking counseling for homosexuality, schedule as many appointments as I could, and document what went on during my appointments with hidden cameras.

Here is the link to a pdf of the entire pledge. Gay stuff aside, did you see how this thing starts off? Slavery is bad but at least back then African-American children were being raised by both parents...Have your debates about taxes and size of government but this stuff turns my stomach more than anything.

I like how the usual suspects have remained silent on this one...
