    Surf & Snow report
    Today's Tides
    Droid Flashlight
    Words
    Angry Birds

NY Times used to be good, then got buggy and limited the free content icon_confused.gif

Some other good apps are Kindle, Level, unit conversion, and an area code mapper, but I have them on my ipod and don't need two of them.

Scanner Radio app. Let's you listen to local police radio. I'm such a geek that I am quite entertained by it. My own suburban town was too boring with too long of periods of nothing exciting so now I listen the Detroit police radio. Much more exciting.

The Weather Channel app is ok, but better than that, IMO, is to save a bookmark to Weather Underground's mobile site:

    http://i.wund.com

It detects your location and automatically gives you the weather for where you are.

I like weatherbug better than the weather channel app. Better designed interface, more intuitive.

I use cardio trainer almost daily. I also downloaded the gingerbread keyboard and like it way better than the multitouch my droid came with. Other apps I find useful:
    Google sky
    shazam
    urban spoon
doubletwist (sync your droid with itunes)
    color note (make lists)
    ebay
lookout (anti virus--there are some issues with lookout and android 2.2)
    flixter
    zedge (ringtones)
    and for fun
    Jedi lightsaber
    tricorder
    Edit
Almost forgot Instant heart rate (uses camera and led flash to sense capillary contractions in your finger. Pretty cool)

Yo. If you want total integration with computer software, download Vida One and the corresponding Android App. It has everything. Diet plan, food logging, workouts, GPS tracking, lift tracking. You name it. I love Cardio Trainer, just wish it had sync with desktop computer like Vida One.

    advanced task killer

Here is a general heads-up....Android does not need task killers. Take it off your phone and see if your phone doesn't speed up and have a longer battery life. Long story short, Android operates better with the memory being used. Free memory is not better! Here is the whole article for those interested:

Android Task Killers Explained: What They Do and Why You Shouldn’t Use Them

Otherwise, my favorite app is Tasker. Here are some of the things my phone is programmed to do:
-Auto high screen brightness on picture gallery opening, return to auto-brightness on close
-Auto silent when plugged in and face down (used when sleeping)
-Auto vibrate at work, based on time of day and cellular tower ping
-Auto GPS on/off with maps & navigate
-Auto silent when near schools wifi
-Auto low earpiece volume when dad calls (louuuud voice)
-Sound-sensitive headphone volume (raises music volume when passing loud noises)
-Auto start & shuffle music when headphones inserted
-Three calls in a row from mom/dad will force ringer if in silent
-2 quick waves of the hand past the proximity sensor activates Grindr (hehe)
....the list goes on.....use your imagination

Grooveshark! Unless you're an audiophile, it makes syncing to a library fairly redundant.

I stopped using Task Killer awhile ago - was causing more problems than it seemed to solve.

JuiceDefender is better for extending battery life

Endomondo is great for tracking any running / cycling workouts.

Mint.com has a nice widget / app for tracking your bank accounts.

Got rid of urban spoon, but still use Yelp and FourSquare.

Evernote is ok for keeping notes and lists synched online.
